Thank you, Martha for singing our song. Carl Jackson, Buddy Landon and I had a great time writing it back in '84. It's a joy hearing you sing and play it.

Martha, you have the purest voice, I love your singing! Your father taught me my first fiddle tunes almost forty years ago. I started playing again recently, and still remember Thornton's Reel.

And she's so pretty, I can't look at her too much or I can't hear what she's singing. Thought she and Luke Bell would make a nice couple. Still wish he were here.

Your voice is very beautiful. Have you thought about singing some of the old Scot and Irish ballads and songs. I bet you'd nail "Flower of Scotland" and "Henry Joy".

I want to hear you with Gillian Welch and Emmy Lou on whatever "Oh Brother..." type movie they come up with next. Can't believe I hadn't heard of you, until looking for the lyrics of A Maiden's Prayer. Now to figure out where I can buy a CD, so I don't have to stay in front of the computer, listening to this over and over. Wish you "old time" musicians weren't so obscure. Promise you'll never do Hip-Hop, or whatever they call it now.

My god, it is so beautiful! This is America’s great heritage! Please bring back our great music instead of all this nonsense crap that tries to pass off as music.

I hit "Maiden's Prayer" in a side bar three days ago. I had never heard of Martha Spencer or her family before, and I was about to click off because, although the musicianship was excellent the sound quality wasn't all that good on the clip-- then this girl opened her mouth and her voice was so unique and captivating that I HAD to hear her out. I've since clicked on about a dozen or so KZfaq clips of The Whitetop Mountain Band, and they are one very talented family. My only gripe was that the instruments tended to make her words unintelligible, which I though may have been her fault--many singers in all genres (except opera) have sloppy diction, a great fault in a singer IMO, and I though " What a shame, it does not allow her to exploit that wonderful voice fully". Having heard this clip, with every word perfectly enunciated, I'm knocked out! She's a very talented member of a very talented family, long may she and her family keep entertaining people. Pretty too, and can really put on a performance -Mr. Cabbagehead was highly comedic! As an old Scottish guy who did Ballroom and Latin American dance for years, I LOVED watching she and her relatives Flatfooting. I see and hear elements off Scots/Irish and English styles of music and dance in Bluegrass which probably came over with the early settlers. Good luck and God Bless then, it's nice to see a whole family sharing music and dance.

Not to critical of yourself, are ya. Music is like art when it touches our heart and soul. Martha's music makes us feel good inside. And you?
