In this episode of the Fluid Mechanics 101 Podcast, I discuss the challenges in tidal stream turbine design with Wouter Remmerie. Wouter Remmerie is a founder and owner of AirShaper. AirShaper is an online platform that allows you to carry out aerodynamics CFD simulations in the cloud, with no expert knowledge of CFD, aerodynamics or specific software.

Great to see that you begin doing podcasts! Super interesting, please Aidan do one with Tobias holzmman, your brains throwing up knowledge would be magic 👌

I'm currently finishing a research project on the design of a marine current turbine using CFD (OpenFOAM), which I will continue working on in my Master's thesis next semester. This is my first time working with CFD, and your videos have been amazingly helpful, including this one. At first it was a daunting task, as I was having quite some trouble figuring out the physics, the meshing procedure, OpenFOAM etc.. I have a long road ahead of me, but it's a really interesting field that I'm looking forward to learning more about. Thank you very much for your videos

Hello Aidan, nice to see you in podcasts. Wish to be invited sooner. Well have got a Fluid Structure Interaction problem to model, and I would like to borrow your brains for a second to suggest me books or articles explaining in details FEM and FVM in those problems. Take an example of a damper, pneumatic dampers of a train.

Dear Sir, could you please discuss/introduce the basic principles of the adjoint method for shape optimization? Thanks.

Hi John, I'm sure Aidan has a much better (scientific) explanation up his sleeve, but here's our go at explaining the adjoint method for shape optimization: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mcBxm7OCq6-yimw.html

I think Udemy is having a sale at the moment, so if you look on the website (link in the description) you should find them for a discounted price 👍
