Hi Just one remark; try to avoid touching the cleaned edges of the contact strips with your bare fingers because the skin fat/fluids could corrode the contact points again quicker(!?) than normal. This stands for all electric contact points!

Excellent point and comment! I am always surprised when these content creators do this, but some will clean the board ultrasonically, but it would be unnecessary if they wore proper gloves. The creator here did have good content, but I was thinking the same thing! Peace

Where were the faded segments? I did not see any would've been nice if you could've showed them in more detail so we could see before and after.

We apologize for the late reply. When the LCD is bleeding, as in the case of the black spots, then the only solution is replacing the LCD. We do not have this in stock at the moment, but we are updating our inventory and website. Let us know what you're looking for and we'll do our best to accommodate. Thanks for checking us out.

Hi. My 179 has low contrast. Especially when looking at it straight from top, or at a slight up angle. It is somewhat ok if I'm looking from below. (shallow angle) Any idea what causes this? Thanks.

I think it's normal for the 170 Series to have dimmer appearance when viewing from slight up angle, and it gets better, and best when viewing slightly from below. If the display is uniform dim, then I'm not sure what would cause it, other than a weak battery, or cosmetically faded top case window, or LCD itself from direct sunlight. I have seen this in older Fluke multimeters with this issue. If cleaning the elastomer contacts doesn't improve the display, then replacing would be the best step to ensuring a nice clear readout. At least then you can rule out the LCD as being the issue. The good news is that the Fluke 179 LCD is still available for purchase online anywhere from $30-$50. I may have at least 1 in stock. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope this helps.
