I wouldnt reccomend doing this unless your sure what rock types your well is in. For example if your well is in sand doing this will cause a void that can cause a sinkhole and swallow your car truck barn house wife kids neighbor... depending on how long you did it!!!
Before and after Specs of well.
Before
80 feet 6 inches from top of casing to bottom.
42 feet of water depth in casing.
Its 30 inches from top of casing to pitless adapter. Its 77 feet 9 inches from pitless adapter to bottom of well pump.
So 77' 9" + 30" = 80' 3" ...so you can see the well pump was 3 inches from the sediment!
After
88 feet 9 inches from top of casing to bottom
Water depth could not be measure as it would take some time to refill. But in theory it should be 8 feet 3 inches deeper which would make it 50 feet 3 inches.
from pitless adapter to bottom of pump now is 82' so 82 + 30" = 84' 6" now I'm 4' from the sediment but 4' deeper!!!

Use 3 inch drain pipe about 3 ft long. Flat cap, drill 2 holes one being 1/2 inch and one 1 inch. One inch hole is for a threaded pvc connector to be locked between a regular coupler on inside of cap and small 1 inch pvc. Female thread on outside for a black hose barb to be threaded and clamp to hose to be output of well. 1/2 inch same but all half inch going to air line in. This lowered into well causes all sediment and water to come out of 1 inch line. This is called a geyser pump and works like a charm.

Interesting.... I have a 140 foot well. but lots of Iron in our water. also we have silica sand down under. all i do i Shock my Well with a Gallon of Javex once a year. it works. But Well pressure is slowly getting Weaker. Maybe i should try this. Great Video.

Idk if it would help in your case... be warned if you do that your water is going to be really muddy for some time... mine was 2 days before it cleared up.I did it to get the sediment out mostly it had built up to my pump almost.... I was reading up on wells and what my problem is and maybe yours also is over time the same stuff that builds up inside your pipes... in my case I think its manganese in your case sounds like iron, but what's going on is all the fissures in the well are clogging up just like the pipes and were getting less water over time. They can hydro frack it and that will open the fissures back up and maybe help. I have no clue what it cost I've only read about it a little. Look up hydro fracking a water well and read up on it. What I was reading was anywhere from 1/2 gpm to 5 gpm could be gained by fracking.

You would have done better to have a rigid pipe on the end of your hose like a 20' piece of copper line , It doesn't have to be big or high pressure Just constant volume at 32psi. The smaller rigid tubing would stay at the bottom of the hole were it pushes the load of water and sediment from the bottom and doesn't move with the water surge floating atop the rising column. . Also restricting the casing opening with an elbow and slowing the gas expansion at the surface will move more material out of the casing and allow you to make a constant surging cycle with a 11cfm compressor.

interesting. I need to do this to my well. My pump quit after 25 years so I'm currently "acidizing" my well with 12 gallons of muriatic acid to open the mill slot to allow higher water flow. This is a common practice. So this winter I'll "air blow" the well like you did and then add 20 galloons of muriatic acid and let it set all winter.

I would suggest storing enough water to top the well off before you blow it. Stick the garden hose clear down to the bottom use the water to agitate the silt then blow it. I found out on like the last blow that works way better. You need a Hugh volume of air too 3/4 line min run right off the air compressor no regulator. I tried 1/2" airline at first and it just wasn't quite enough . Just be sure to use a line that can handle whatever pressure your putting in it. also be warned it may take a while for your well to clear back up afterwards. Mine took 3 days. I'm prolly blow mine again next year. I have really good tasting water but a buildup of of something i think manganese will build up on the screen on my pump after about 5 years I gotta pull it and scrape it off.

The black stuff is manganese.

That's what I was thinking it was. I'm also starting to think that that stuff has built up in the natural fissures and slowed the GPM from the well down over the past 50 years. I'm seriously thinking of getting someone to hydro frack it some day.

Do you have your compressor hose just down in the hole by itself?

I used a garden hose with a steel pipe on the end and weights to hold it on the bottom. I tried the airline first but it just didn't let the volume of air needed. The garden hose i used was hooked directly to an 80 gallon compressor tank. It's not so much about the pressure as it is about the volume of air you can force down the hole.... you cant run the air through a regulator and do it you cant get the volume of air you need, It has to be direct hookup to the tank. Hindsight The best thing I could have used is the same black pipe that the pump was hooked too. You have to make sure you do not exceed the pressure of whatever your using. The garden hose I used was 90 psi rated I think but my tank has 150 psi in it so I had to manually watch a pressure gauge I had on the line to make sure I did not go beyond what the hose was rated for. The first time I tried it I let the pipe hit the bottom of the well too hard and it clogged it I cracked the valve open and it shot up over 100 psi before I closed the valve. I then changed to a 90 degree fitting on the end so it wouldnt jam with sediment when it hit bottom... if I had used the black well pipe, its rated for 150 psi I could have just let it build full pressure of my compressor 150 psi and blow it out. I would have also ben able to push a much higher volume of air in the hole which would have forced more sediment out at a time. Also the last time I did it I didnt film it but what I did is stuck the garden hose down to the bottom and ran 50 gallons of water in the well... that really stirred up the sediment and my helper said it looked like crude oil comming out... use extreme caution if you use a garden hose if you exceed the pressure it can burst and force compressed air into your bloodstream which could lead to death. Use pipe that is rated for the max pressure you can put in it.

That’s some nasty looking water. Is there some kind of product you could pour in that would devolve those solids then flush❓❓❓

it's basically already dissolved when it drys its a super fine powder finer then talcum powder. It's 45+ years of sediment I've been told it's manganese in the comments and a guy that works at a water plant I know said that's what it is.. 45 years worth... it makes since because it's a low volume well and I hav the suspicion it wasn't when it was drilled. over the past 45 years the manganese has built up in the fissures in the well slowing the water down. there is a few ways to clear it. Fracking with explosives or hydrologic fracking. Explosives are off the table as the well in only 15 feet from the house. So explosives are off the table. the only options I have is hydro fracking, drill a new well or drill that well deeper to hit new fissures and and more reserve. Drilling deeper is a gamble because right now I have very good water. it tastes good and hardly don't stain. what if I drill down 30 more feet and hit suffer water or heavy iron?

@@Depth_of_Cut there is a product called NuWell which is supposed to remove stuff like this. You might research it.

It's not so much about the pressure as it is the volume. 100 psi if I understand correctly will overcome the head pressure of a well 200 feet deep. What is important is the volume a little 3/8" airline in the well is just gonna make bubble sounds. You need at least 3/4 I'd pipe... maybe larger as you go deeper. You have to release a large volume of air very very rapidly.
