Oddly Walmart sells a nano tank gravel vac, with a built in primer. Great video, can't wait to get my Evo up and running someday (hopefully soon).

I would think having 15lbs of live rock, and about 1 inch of live sand would definitely cut down on water changes. The bio gems, and the upgraded water filter basket with some good filter media, should help reduce water changes.

Once the tank was fully established I rarely had to do water changes. I found all I needed was a UV sterilizer and filter floss. It pretty much took care of itself. It did crash when I tried to move it to my new house.

@cooleyscoral3456 that's my plan to hopefully I won't have to do many water changes at all. I have 1 to maybe 1 in half inches of sand and 8lbs of live rock Did you use a wavemaker or a powerhead? What brand of a uv stabilizer did you use? Do you have anything for sake? Ty ty

Again great stuff! Is that branching coral in the back on the left side a sinularia?

Thanks 🙏🏻 and yes it is a sinularia. It’s probably my favorite coral right now 👍

What are you using for filter media? Are you only changing out one part of the media or all of it? I only have the stock media right now but wasn't sure how much I should change it or if I should add anything.. Thanks

Hi Cooley! Great water change advice! Would u say it was better not using sand?? 😀👍
@cooleyscoral34562 жыл бұрын
I think now not having sand is better for sure. Not having to vacuum it or worry about it causing problems with phosphates or holding unwanted pests. When the tank was getting established I did have some hard times with cyano and dinos. Maybe it would have been easier with sand at that time. I do like the look of sand and sand dwelling critters but in the long run I’d say no sand is easier.

Yes Cooley, in the future when I get another Fluval 13.5 I will try no sand! 😀👍

What kind of filtration do you use on it?
@cooleyscoral34563 жыл бұрын
For filtration all I use is Poly-fill polyester fiber, carbon and a UV sterilizer. You can watch my filtration video and see exactly what I use and how it’s all set up. Hopefully this answers your question 👍

@cooleyscoral3456 Жыл бұрын
You need to mark your water line in the overflow compartment of the tank. You will add fresh when the water level drops below the line. Probably every day you’ll need to add.

Is your tank cycled? Are your parameters in check? Nitrates and phosphates? Are you doing water changes with RODI water? Is your salinity good?
