I'd try a spray adhesive with the leaves and stick them onto a thin cardstock. Great video thanks for sharing your experiments!

I tested with leather. You need to soak the leather into the water first, the moist leather will less likely to have burn edges.

Thank you so much. I have the air filter but it stopped working. Will you create more videos on how to make larger projects? I have some files for some tool holders but I don't know how to separate them on to different pages.

Are you using the Beamo Air unit yet? If so, did it help with fumes. Also what thickness (2mm, 3mm) did you use for the acrylic and machine settings for the acrylic. Thank you.

Yes! It helps a lot. We have ours set up in the garage and for the most part it keeps the fumes at bay but when my roommate engraves on bone or antler, it smells really bad and we try to open the garage door for that! I believe my acrylic was 2mm thick and I used the settings that were pre programed in there.

Hi how do you know what settings to use on your materials? What was your thickness for the acrylic
@thetravelingdork

I used the default settings on most of the things I have tried and then adjust speed or power depending on a test run before I do the real cut or etch to make sure it is what I want it to look like. :) I used 1/8 acrylic for this project. :)

Hi! I’ve had my beamo for over three years and I’ve only tried using it twice. Do you provide personal training and or do you know if anyone that does?

We don't offer personal training for laser cutters at this time, but have you seen the FLUX Laser Cutter 101 curriculum? flux3dp.com/flux-curriculum-laser-cutter-101/

Can you engrave on bigger pieces by removing the floor?
@thetravelingdork
@thetravelingdork 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. I was able to remove the metal piece on the bottom and it gave me another inch or so of room so I could do the top of a box that I made for a friend for Christmas. :)

Jen could you help me out on another problem other then materials. I want to import and image (lettering) from WORD to beamo. I can get the word spelling on the grid but can not make it load and print. What i do get is square blocks on the grid with out the lettering when I hit print preview.

Jeremy here, jumping in for Jen (I deal with the more technical stuff). Rather than dealing with the complexities of exporting from Word in the appropriate format, wouldn't it be easier to just use the text tool built into the Beam Studio software? Just click the T button in the left-side toolbar to add text. You can position and rotate it as needed. Then you can use the formatting controls in the right-side panel to adjust font, size, etc. If that doesn't do what you need, please clarify what you're trying to do, and I'll provide further advice.

Is there any good setting for silicone watch bands?
@3duniverseOrgWelcomesYou
@3duniverseOrgWelcomesYou Жыл бұрын
That's not something we've tested. The best option would be to do some testing to identify the right settings. If you open the Beam Studio software and look under File > Examples, you'll find an Engraving Test and a Cutting Test option. This will make a series of engravings or cuts using different settings so you can see which works best.

We used Power = 60%, Speed = 0.2 in/sec, 1 pass. But we did have a little burning around the edges, so a slightly lower power setting might be okay. You may want to use the material cutting test that's included within Beam Studio. Just go to File > Examples > Material Cutting Test. That will cut a bunch of squares at different power levels and speeds. Then you can just see which one cut best.

what size acrylic did you use and do you have a link to where you purchased it?

We usually get our acrylic from Inventables (www.inventables.com/categories/materials/acrylic). 8x10" would be the ideal size, but the 8x12" pieces they sell are okay - it will just overlap the sides of the work area a little.
