Fly fishing Big Snowbird Creek in North Carolina

2 жыл бұрынIn this video, Adam goes to fish the delayed Harvest section of Big Snowbird Creek after it goes back to Hatchery Supported Water. Even though the fishing is pressure is high, some nice fish are caught.

It really is a good program. We enjoyed the catch and release through the winter. My 11 year old enjoyed opening morning the first Saturday in June and as this video showed there is still some good fishing after it opened to harvest. Pretty good deal all the way around.

Just subbed. I fish Florida salt water and love the drag pulling action we get down here, but I have an itch to get up there and fish for trout. My parents live in Robbinsville and I believe that is the creek my dad took me to when we hiked up to the waterfalls last year. I'm planning on driving up this summer and grabbing one of those camp sites along the river for a night. Do you have any suggestions on the best time to go?

Drew we appreciate you being here. The upper part of Big Snowbird will fish all summer for wild fish. This was filmed on the Delayed Harvest section which just opened to Harvest. It will fish worse into the summer as it gets hotter. So if you going high, go now. If you want to fish the DH wait till November-May

May I suggest going into some detail in regard to gear used in each video? Not sure if you want to give ALL the goods out but you could offer details on rod, reel, line as well as clothes, Sheol, waders and or pants etc…

We definitely didn’t worry about it for the first year or year and half. That’s become a somewhat regular question and I honestly struggle between making a fish video about the fish and experience vs. sounding like a nascar driver at the end of a race. We have done a little better in the last few videos but I honestly don’t know where that balance will fall for us. With that said. We are always happy to answer gear questions. Adam is a bit more techy and gear head than me. I fish a lot with 30 year old rods and 25 year old reels, pulling flies from boxes I have had since I was 15. 😉

We are from northeast GA. About an hour or a little more to most of western NC.

Google and the North Carolina fishing regulations are your friend. This part of Big Snowbird is catch and release until a date in June.
