Idk what it is with Sugar Ray. I started listening to them recently, and every time I do, it’s like their soul is ACTUALLY in the music. Like some friends who knew what you were going through and decided to make a song about it while also trying to cheer you up. They’ve actually made me feel the happiest in my saddest of moments. Thank you, Sugar Ray. Thank you so much.

Lyrics All around the world statues crumble for me Who knows how long I've loved you Everywhere I go people stop and they see Twenty-five years old my mother God rest her soul I just wanna fly Put your arms around me, baby Put your arms around me, baby I just wanna fly Put your arms around me, baby Put your arms around me, baby Dance a little stranger, show me where you've been Love can make you hostage wanna do it again There's no time to think about the starting or the end We'll find out I'm told, my mother she told me so I just wanna fly Put your arms around me, baby Put your arms around me, baby I just wanna fly Put your arms around me, baby Put your arms around me, baby I just want to fly I just want to fly All around the world, statues crumble for me Who knows how long I've loved you Everyone I know has been so good to me Twenty-five years old, my mother God rest her soul I just wanna fly Put your arms around me, baby Put your arms around me, baby I just wanna fly Put your arms around me, baby Put your arms around me, baby I just want to fly I just want to fly I just want to fly I just want to fly I just want to fly

Rip to my cool ass parents rest their souls . I have fund memories of the beach trips in the early 2000s they played this song a lot on our way the myrtle beach . I cherish all our times good and the bad . I think the good Lord for the time that I did have with you , that I will never get to see you ever again . I'm sorry if I've ever let you down or hurt you in anyway, I only love you so deeply and scared loose you, I had a strong feeling for along time the need and urge to have my mama in my life , I felt unloved and like we was loosing our bond. It hurt bad ,. But now seeing the light in it , that you stayed away because you love me and it hurt you probably worst to do , now I see you was getting me use to living without you. Or didn't want me to end up like you, you always preached how bad drugs destroys self and family's , you was a real one mama my best friend , you are with me still always have been. I feel you and noticed the little signs. I love you so much dear Lord forgive my mama for her sins dear Lord you know her story ❤ Amen . My parents are soul mates even after the divorce regretted it bad and both abused pain pills (dad morphine od. 4-11-12 mom (had different addictions steady twenty years of my life. I'm thirty now , and recently lost mama ) 6-24-24 she was 51 when I look back on her / our life the past twenty years it is so extremely sad , it's hard to breathe . the 90s was the last decade the inherent joy of life was openly revealed. it is still here, but you have to cultivate it for yourself. To attain it you have to detach to a large degree from the world because it is so much darker now than it was then.

It really is. I mean, there's a lot of bias from us 90s kids about how much better everything was, and I'll openly admit that. But things have gotten objectively darker these days.

Perspective, guys. Heavy sigh. September 2020 now, and we’re in the midst of a global pandemic. Dark days indeed. Matthew, your statement about “last decade of inherent joy” troubles me because joy is an inside job. I have special memories I associate 90s alternative music with, joyful moments with my late husband, who died on his motorcycle in ‘03. It’s taken me a long time to find joy again, but I did. And I’m living fully in the present! Voltaire said we must cultivate our own garden. In that you are correct. Oh, and I’ll be 60 next year. Rock on 🤘
