Tips and techniques to tie an Isonychia bicolor, Family Isonychiidae.
Isonychia bicolor are said to be one of the fastest swimming mayflies. They find home in moderate to fast flowing sections of well oxygenated water in small to medium sized rivers. The Slate Drake has two primary emergence periods- one in early to mid summer and in late summer to early fall. Mature nymphs are known to hatch into adults often by climbing out of the water onto rocks, and bushes, where they work to free themselves from their nymphal shucks.
