Our first Xenoblade 2 Challenge run! It's called the flylocke. This is something I've been developing for a while and I'm really excited to show you guys!
It is a Xenoblade nuzlocke fashioned like a Pokemon nuzlocke challenge
The rules are as follows:
Set in New Game + Normal mode.
All characters will have blades based on RNG pulls. Capped at 3 Rare Blades per Party member. No Overdrive protocol.
No Tora. No story blades. If we lose a battle we must release a blade randomly and reroll a blade.

This video was really good and i like the post commentary. It would be good for runs like this but idk about only going to post commentary for all videos. Also this is an amazing idea for a xc2 run can't wait to see the end.

Flyann just a tip: use dessert pouch items, they massively decrease art durations. Edit: I meant cooldowns.

Hey Flyann, here's a quick tip: If you wanna know why certain blades are good or bad, check out the description on the yellow nodes of a blade's affinity chart. Like for example, one reason why Corvin is so fucking broken is one of his skills increases damage AND evasion, another helps you recharge arts whenever you evade, and the last one helps you build a party meter extremely fast.

Yes, because she has a greatly increased chance to reappear if released. It would have been a surprise if he didn’t pull one of the DLC blades.

I played this game not long after it came out and then spent hundreds of hours really going into depth with it until I did everything there was to do in the game. That included sidequests, affinity charts for all the rare blades, both affinity charts for every character in the game, torna, challenge mode and finally...Soloing every boss with different characters. I hope your nuzzlock goes well...it might tempt me into play the game again after several years. Honestly, though...all Rex really needs is Mythra to completely wreck the game ;)

honestly, i think this would be a lot easier than a pokemon nuzlocke. When a pokemon dies, you have to wait with one less party member until you get another encounter to fill in its place. But if you just pull another blade immediately you could possibly be rewarded for wiping out. So maybe you could pull another blade for every unique monster and boss you beat? Also i would think that maybe when a wipe out occurs you release 1 blade from each driver that was in the battle? you dont have to listen to me it is your flylocke after all :)

Could definitely be viable to do that in a future run, but with my lack of skill so far the current ruleset works really well for a good balance of challenge and entertainment. And that's kind of the fun of this run, maybe losing a great blade might not be the worst thing if you get something great in return. I feel like that's where the fun lies. Anyways, appreciate the suggestion!

With only three blades per character, releasing one per driver every wipe is very punishing. He also has a limited amount of core crystals he can use and may have to wait still if he ever runs out later on. Maybe you can have a life system per blade and only be allowed to pull a blade if you defeat a UM. You can stockpile rare blades, release one after a wipeout, and just cycle through to the end. It would also be up to the players if they rerelease any rare blades they already got like a dupes clause.

I'm attemtping a nuzlocke like this one and I'm stuck on the first Lila fight. Somehow RNJesus decicided to make damn sure both Rex and Nia were tanks... not a single healing blade. I wanna die.

Honestly this is a pretty fun idea! I enjoy the narration too, i think its a great addition. Though, I’m sure im not the only one who would say that i wouldnt mind if you used a modded version of the game that excludes common blade pulls. I know that kinda takes some risk out of it, but late-game its gonna be really unbearable. I’m not sure where you would find that, (or even if it exists), but i think its gonna make this new series better overall.

I'm pretty sure I've tried something similar, but much harsher since I was limiting the number of Blades I could use based on progress (1 in chaper 1, 2 in chapters 2 & 3), I was wiping entire drivers' blades if that driver faints during battle, and reseting all participants if I get a party wipe. I also carefully did a setup so that none of the rare blades had any trust prior to the run and every rare blade other than Theory would be in the pool (since she requires Praxis progress). Good luck! I'm not sure if you're resetting Core Chips, but if you are, the NG+ blades are broken since they come with late-game weapons right out of the box and you can't use core chips on them at all.

I'm too lazy to make a setup save so I keep my blades with S+ trust but they keep a Tin chip through the whole game.

If you really wanted (or had) to use Tora, you could have randomized Poppi's element core and role CPU using the Poppiswap! I'd probably do that if I attempted this run

Huh, i didn't realize you can get Sheba as RNG pull on NG+. I thought you just go do the same thing you did on NG to get those blades again.

NG+ has no effect on it. The blades from unique cores can be released into the random pool at any time, and when doing so, are given the default 1% pull rate (about average chances).

Nuzlockes arent usually randomized? I know that randomizer nuzlockes are common but the nuzlocke was originally invented for the normal game
