In this video, I fly with the brand new Flybe onboard one of their Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft on the inaugural service from Leeds Bradford to London Heathrow!
The new Flybe relaunched operations in April 2022, after the original airline ceased operations in March 2020. One of the new routes announced was this link between Leeds Bradford and Heathrow, which has previously been operated by British Airways.
It's great to see the Flybe brand return! I wish the new airline every success in the future and hope to see them grow!
I hope you enjoy this video!
Flight Info:
Route: Leeds Bradford to London Heathrow
Flight: BE751
Aircraft: G-JECY, Bombardier Dash 8
Date: April 2022
Seat: 16D
Flight Cost: £29.99 + £3 seat reservation

I live close to Leeds-Bradford. Flying to London is too short a distance to make it worthwhile. I can be in central London in about 3hrs going by train. Flying is only useful if you are joining a connecting flight out of LHR.

@@msm2267 But if you are going into Central London from LHR, you will have additional travel costs. Depends what time of day you travel and how far ahead you book your train ticket. If the prices are similar, going straight to Central London by train is more convenient . Certainly doubt if flying is quicker overall if going into London

Good to see FLYBE is back. Let's hope they stay back. We used them a few times on flights to Europe to connect to flights to Asia and beyond. We only ever flew the Jungle Jets but would like to fly the Dash-8. Many thanks for the fast forward through the Duty Free, there's nothing more boring in a travel vlog than being shown the Duty Free area. Fast Track should avoid Duty Free. Good job.

Great to see flybe back in the air and even better to see them at LBA! The airport has done well to get flybe on the london route plus we have belfast too. Current security queues are a nightmare atm though, to note even if that flybe flight was fully loaded it still would only use around half the length of the lba runway. Its only the widebody jets that have to be limited on weight

Enjoyed seeing the new regional FlyBe into LHR T2. Hope they can keep it up. Have witnessed their planes on takeoff too and they seem to hold up other traffic. Wonder what the A380 flight crew make of these tiny turboprop planes... We used to have a lot of clients who referred to the airline as FLY MAYBE.

We fly down to heathrow on June 4th staying overnight then on to vegas the following day with virgin, we looked at the train and it was £450 return I got flights for £280 return. You would think being an internal flight they would skip the security line and use another entrance, jersey air did that last time right next to where you check in with flybe.

@@LETSGOInflightAviation I'm not suggesting that security be compromised but a separate lane for internal flights would reduce the queues, unfortunately our airports seem unable to accept the increase in overseas travel since the end of travel restrictions, to have only 2 security lanes available for hundreds of passengers was a total fiasco.

Security was appalling but it seems to be a phenomenon at the moment. I wonder if fast track would have improved it much. When BA flew it, I suspect the route was used for connections or for a quick tier point run with a B2B (that would have been my motive).
@LETSGOInflightAviation
@LETSGOInflightAviation 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s very common at the moment. It’s really difficult for airports but when you’re flying on a quick hour hop down to LHR it makes it so much less worthwhile! Like you say with BA, many people used it for connecting. Would be good to see Flybe arrange some codeshare agreements. Fast track was quicker taking it back to normal queuing times. They were calling flights on last call through fast track as well though, to make sure nobody missed their flights

A daft route anyway to an airport with notoriously expensive charges, queues in the sky, queues waiting to get a stand and no room/time for tiddlers! Compare it with a coach for price/total travel time. People in 'The North' have a myriad of direct options from Manchester to almost anywhere on Earth, plus hopping via AMS, MAD or Frankfurt. In the recent weeks I have travelled through DUS/AMS/BCN/NAP/MAD and in none of those was there any problem with long queues at security. The reason in the UK is simple - Brexit which robbed the country of many of the employees who worked at airports and for whom security clearance was easy to secure. The UK government in its hapless and hurried exit from the EU has bought this on its own people.
