Welcome to another complete and extensive maximum realism aircraft tutorial, this time covering the FlyByWire Simulations A32NX, a free addon modification for the default Airbus A320neo of MSFS, which takes this airliner to a whole new level.
The most current stable version is v0.5.2 at the moment, but we are flying the v0.6.0 development build, which features full simBrief integration with flight route and aircraft weights loading, the ability to access ATIS and METAR reports and virtually print them out, improved sounds, textures and too many other improvements to list.
We will get all those unique features covered, and additionally the default ATC handling, a power-up from cold&dark, most aircraft systems, autopilot operation etc. I hope you will find the video useful and please enjoy the trip from Ontario to Salt Lake City :)

On the MCDu menu it doesn't show options? So is there any other way to do the sim brief stuff
@SimulationChannelDeluxe

That's true, in a recent update they moved all the options from the MCDU to the EFB (tablet). Still the loading of pax/cargo has to be performed via the AOC menu in the MCDU. Cheers

@@SimulationChannelDeluxe it would be nice if developers would incorporate detailed, strategically-located, context-sensitive pop up notes to help minimize the learning curve and frustration. Hunting all these changes down (yes, even if you read the release notes) can be huge waste of time, and a real bummer if you’ve only got a limited amount of time for playing the sim.

This is a clean tutorial. No fufu and blah blah as most people do. I do have 2 things you missed. (1) how to manipulate the speed and altitude buttons. (2) entering the phase speeds into the FMC
@SimulationChannelDeluxe
@SimulationChannelDeluxe 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Regarding the FCU buttons, yeah maybe I skipped them a bit because I did so many Airbus tutorials already lol. You enter "Managed" mode by pushing them in (mouse arrow up), so the plane will use its self-computed values for speed and LNAV, and a Managed Climb or Descent for the altitude (so theoretically obeying altitude constraints in the flightplan, but that doesn't work in MSFS yet). Pulling knobs out means "Selected" mode, so values that the pilot enters himself for speed and heading. For the altitude knob that means an "Open Climb" or "Open Descent", doing it as quickly as possible while ignoring alt constraints. Regarding (2), you can try entering manual speeds on the corresponding PERF page of the MCDU and insert them in the Speed field, but it might not be implemented in the A32NX yet. Cheers

Most of the greatest tutorial on KZfaq for A32NX! Thank you. It was pleasure to watch all the flight with such a details and with your commentary. I have few questions to you: What do you use to see airport charts with plane showed on it? Is this available also for European airports? I want to go "pro" in that matter, and I am aware of that it might cost some money, but for me that isn't problem. Can you tell me what works the best for you?

Thank you, I'm happy that you enjoyed the vid :) The app that I used for the charts (which cover most "bigger" airports all over the world) is Navigraph Charts on my tablet PC, which requires a monthly subscription for ~10$. I then used the "magic" of my livestreaming software to implement the tablet's screen into the video recording. Cheers

Default ATC will _always_ put you on a dive-bomber approach profile. That's the primary reason I switched to pilot2ATC, it's not free, and it's not perfect, but it's a much better experience and they give you better advance notice of your expected approaches (and use SIDs and STARs correctly, which the default ATC does not), and more appropriate descent paths. I'm a big fan.

What a very informative video, thank you so much. Can I make a request, please? I have been following the Zibo mod on X-Plane but I had to give up because they were making improvements nearly every other day and this didn’t give me time to learn each of the new phases, so I found it very difficult to keep up. It would be helpful, for anyone just starting to fly this plane, if this was say number 1. We can then learn how to deal with everything you have explained in this video and practice until we get it right. As and when there have been a number of changes to the mod perhaps, if you have the time, to make a Number 2, etc. Then we can again learn, from a full flight, all the changes that have been made. Once again, great video and I will be practicing, for most of tomorrow, to get things right.

Thank you! Regarding the TOD, unfortunately the A32NX isn't yet capable to calculate a top of descent point. For now, one has to rely on ATC descent instructions, or use the good old descent formula. I think there's also a descent calculator included in the EFB now.
