Reely (sp.) enjoyed this. I had never considered putting floatant on the butt section to make for a quieter lift. Makes sense. For those of you watching this that have not experienced dry takes, I didn't either my first few years of fly fishing. In the past year or so, I have experienced takes. And SO CAN YOU! It's truly magical. Timing is everything in many ways and I will leave it at that...

Hi Lance, great video … thanks for sharing some great tips…may I ask your view on using small tippet rings (1-2mm diameter) to join tippet lengths onto the end of a tapered leader please? Thanks and best regards

I know this is a flyfishing page, and I’ll probably get ridden out of town on a rail, but I use the paste on the last 3 feet of my line when I’m throwing top water lures with conventional gear. And yes, it does help keep the end of the fly line and leader on top of the water.

Lance, awesome coverage of dry fly fishing. One thing you didn’t mention was furled leaders. Many reputable fly fishing experts have mentioned these for dry fly fishing. What is your take on them and how to use?
@Lanceeganflyfishing
@Lanceeganflyfishing 3 ай бұрын
I’ve fished furled leaders very little. I didn’t enjoy them. Water spray, ice when cold, and most commercially available are too short for my liking. That said, if you love them, why not use them. 🙌

What type of fly line do you recommend for something like a 10’ 3 wt. euro nymphing rod primarily used for nymphing, but is sometimes needed to throw a delicate size 20 cdc dry fly when fish start rising? (taper and weight)

Really good info. I’ve also heard the opposite about putting lubricant on your fly line because it gathers dirt and can damage your line, thoughts?
@Lanceeganflyfishing
@Lanceeganflyfishing 3 ай бұрын
Agreed. This isn’t a lubricant, it’s a floatant. And I don’t suggest putting on the entire line, just the tip end. Maybe 2-3’.

Is stretching new line still a thing on these modern fly lines? I give mine a bit of a stretch, just wanted some of your thoughts!
@Lanceeganflyfishing
@Lanceeganflyfishing 3 ай бұрын
Yes, I stretch my lines each time I pull line from a reel to start a day of fishing. 🙌

Which soft action rods do provide a higher recovery speed? That is information not provided by any rod manufacturer
@Lanceeganflyfishing
@Lanceeganflyfishing 3 ай бұрын
Many offer fast recovery speeds but mostly in the high end price points. Standouts to me are the sage trout LL, Loomis NRX + LP, Orvis Helios F, and Scott G series.
