Flyfishing Guide to the river Fane

Hi everyone ,the purpose of this video is to provide relevant information about fly fishing on the river fane, I get lots of inquiries about fishing here so I thought i would make a video about it,I hope to make more videos in the future as part of a series on providing information about the rivers and lakes in my area and others around Ireland,

Thanks Eamonn Fantastic indications on locations to access the river If I just can add a note, a bit more indications on parking spots and how to access the river (I get it is possible from the bridges) would be a fantastic help

This is a really good idea for a series and I don't think it has been done on video before! I will definitely add the Fane to my list and it's not far from Co. Meath!

Handy info there Eamonn - managed a few hours on the Fane last April and must get back up for more. Online day ticket very handy.

Thanks for the kind words ,yes it's fishing OK at the minute with the water dropping off nicely, trout are starting to come to the top aswell

Good video, nice information. What's your tippet lenght and distance between flies. Also what diameter and make tippet do you use

Hi Seany, it is about five foot, about 3 feet from the indicator to the first fly and then 18 inches to the point fly, I have been using different brands over the years but I'm using hanak at the moment in 7x

If fishing 2 nymphs do they have to be same size or weight

There is no set rules on weight selection you can chop and change to suit different situations, in low water I fish two the same or single nymph ,and in higher faster water my point fly will always be the heaviest, that's the way I fish, other anglers may be different ,hope this helps 👌
