Flying ‘AirCar’ Has 1st Passenger

It seems like we’ve been waiting forever to be able to go from freeway to the skies in a flying car. Slovakian company Klein Vision has been working on their AirCar to fulfill that desire. The company says the AirCar has completed over 520 takeoffs and logged more than 130 flight hours. That track record made the company feel confident enough to bring up a passenger. The AirCar flies at speeds of up to 120 miles per hour, and can soar to altitudes up to 8,000-feet high.

It is not really a "flying car" if it can't drive down the street with large wings hanging from its side. This is just a small airplane.

A small airplane?? Car- Airplane it's just ugly no matter how or what you want to call it. Also if you have a fender bender at 7,000 or 8,000 feet do you need's to pull over in mid flight like the Jetsons or can you just go for it & leave the scene of the accidente bc your insurence will go sky higher than the Airplane-Aircar. 🤦😂😂😂

@@jeetpatel6087 my point is this: he said the car wouldn’t be able to drive down the street with the wings out. I made the point that the wings fold in so it will be able to maneuver through the streets. I didn’t say anything about it being a car or an airplane. My point was it can move through the streets

What’s a bit of a mystery here is that a helicopter does just the same job and, moreover, a helicopter doesn’t need a landing strip to take off and land. This could just be a case of just because you _can_ do something doesn’t necessarily mean you should.

As a mechanic, I see this as a very interesting concept My only concern is the gas you would have to use and the safety features that these will have when we have a ton in the air but just like Tesla, it hasn’t been perfected yet.

As soon as I grew up, I realized flying cars is a dumb idea unless we get jetsons level technology. Look at all the car wrecks now, yearly. Imagine that, but now you have a higher chance of getting squished from above too.

Those would make sense only in very rural, mountainous areas with few inhabitants. You would just have to make sure that there is also adequate terrain for landing.

An inherent problem, it would seem to me, is that this craft needs to maintain significant forward motion (I’m assuming) in order to stay aloft. Not much of a problem yet but imagine flying in traffic and you have no brakes.

Helicopters require less space for take off/landing and can carry more weight. we already have flying cars/suvs lol. i think Jetson proposal is way more viable since you can just autopilot it like a drone.
