Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries before 2020 and all 7 continents, we have no plans to slow down anytime soon, and we are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

I’m not one for commenting on videos but I do have to admit this was a big no no for me... I’ve had several family members die recently and chose not to fly home out of caution for not spreading the virus to my toddler, not to mention my husband is out of work and has been out of a job with zero income for months upon months... I’ve loss count. All because the numbers keep spiking causing shutdown after shutdown and then there’s unessential flying like we’ve seen here... that just angers me, drawing out this pandemic further and further. 👎🏼 ✈️

Just found your channel a week ago and watched so many vids since. I like that you tell how your feeling, I like that you’re yourselves. Just because others may have it worse doesn’t mean we don’t get to feel frustration and annoyance for our problems. Our feelings are just that, OURS, we can be upset, disappointed and whatever else, even though we know it could be worse. I like watching bc we see those feelings and those moments that we all have at times. I hate wearing my mask at work, it’s hot and sweaty, itchy and breaks me out, lucky for me I’m a driver and as soon as I step out of the store I can take it off. I am fully aware that others have to wear it longer or more than me and I feel for emm but it doesn’t mean I can’t still feel the way I feel about it. After hours of wear it’s a great feeling to take it off and there is nothing wrong with that. Keep doing what your doing, they are being safe while still living, hell they are safer than I am just going to work🤷‍♀️ .

I can’t even fly to my home country (AU) at the moment due to caps on flights, i’m stuck overseas away from family & friends. You can barely go between the different states at the moment there in AU and there are less than 40,000 cases. It’s insane to me that non-essential flights are still happening in the US 😱

Keep in mind that covid has already spread to every town and city in the US, so at this point it's more about personal risk management, there are plenty of risky things people are doing every day. That being said, I think they should have dedicated flights/times for people who are flying for very essential reasons, e.g. someone transferring to a specialized cancer center across the country for treatment, a kid who has had a custody change, a medical professional relocating to an area hit hard by covid, etc. Also, 15% of folks have had covid already and have a near-zero chance of getting it again or spreading it, so they can do what they want for the most part.

We like you for your personality. In other words you do not need to keep traveling to keep your subscribers. My favorite youtubers right now include a girl in quarantine in Canada who just vents about real life and shows all of the food she is cooking and the emotions she is feeling, a chiropractor who is continuing to work in a mask, a couple discussing their infertility struggles and a mom who frugally shops and cooks for her large family. These 2 ??? What is so urgent for them to travel? How selfish. They don't need to fly.. Or travel? Why? For what? To spread covid, lete say, as a nurse, we have 22 year old & a 30 year old today with covid on life support w/ covid and Healthy individuals prior. Why couldn't you 2 waited for vaçcines to get out through America? And get to herd immunity before you made decisions to travel? You are part of the problem, traveling and running around in this crisis. Why didn't you stay home, and be creative and help your Nashville people who got bombed to rebuild their homes, and help at food banks, help at vaçcine clinics or do public service & help Nashville people and interview some who went through the bombing? These people need a hand up.... You could biked parks, done good deeds & then got your vaçcines, waited for all clear once America & the world is vaccinated in 6-7 months. What is such the rush to get on a flight? And Uber? That's the biggest place to get COViD, so many getting covid with these new mutations, even a mask the new mutations are 70% more contagious. You 2 are part of spreading covid, whether you know it or not..... I won't watch any further videos of yours, this is so reckless, selfish, and you better be ready, your luck will run out. We are seeing 1 million cases every 3-4 days in America now & over 409,000 deaths now. Ypur sleeping on hotel beds & pillows that others breathe on & who knows how long covid lives in pillows. & Bedding....... This is your part in causing the spread of Covid. Ypur contributing to spreading covid.... So selfish... You should waited until vaçcines were situated. And better Leaders coming in with better & safe planning to get America safe I am very disappointed....

These 2 are risking lives, including their own, vitamins are not going to save us, masks are good, with new mutations, people are getting covid with masks. Its time to stay home, if you must GO out, double MASK, plus face shields, covid enters eyes. The particles of virus enter mucous membrane. Eyes are a entry point, now, with, these new mutations, covid is floating everyplace now. Double mask, & full face shield. Wash hands before masking up, & AFTER removing masks, the shields can be disinfected with hot bleach water & dry it good in the sun or hang it in shower. Double mask, face shield up. There is no place worth flying to at this point..... Reckless.... America seeing 1 million cases every 3-4 days. & 4,000 deaths a DAY. This is going to increase. I am not being mean or nasty, but, come on ...... This is a pandemic, how dumb Kara & Nate look & how careless, showing younger people well, go ahead, go traveling. Yippee.... The smirk smiles, & how they just booked flights. This is not funny or fun & we don't want you promoting to the world how careless ypur being Your showing the world, ih well....... Travel anyways? Really, & Ubers are a big place to pick up covid. Even masked. Stop it.... Show the world responsibly how serious this is. You could done so much good for Nashville. So much good to show the world how America steps up with love, they chose the $$ for themselves, plus, now I hear all these stories now with their maps & frames business they quickly started. And People getting ripped off from their orders ? Or something happened and people not getting orders & paying thousands of dollars for these frames with maps.??? I’ve been flying throughout the pandemic because of my job; I work in healthcare IT. This is not at all a dig at Kara and Nate; it’s their decision to travel or not and they have level heads. But it’s important that people realize that this is not typical travel experience right now. Southwest was flying with empty middle seats until December 1, but now they are selling all seats. They still don’t have quite full flights, but I would imagine that will change soon. United and American are flying with completely full planes. Passengers are shoulder to shoulder, and it seems like half of the people on any given plane don’t realize that their nose needs to be covered, too. Most of my team is flying Delta only, because they are blocking middle seats until at least the end of March. I didn’t travel over Thanksgiving, but I did travel the week of Christmas, and the airports were absolutely packed. To be honest, it was terrifying. So many families traveling, that I’m not surprised at the surge in COVID cases. If Kara and Nate can travel, and stay distant from other people while they enjoy their trips, that’s great and I’m truly happy that we can enjoy their videos, but I just want other people to know that this video doesn’t necessarily represent a typical flying experience right now.

I have flown 8 times from the beginning of march until now. And have another two planned in April. I am completely fine with flying and am not scared at all. Aircraft are equipped with filters and top to bottom air circulation, so when wearing masks even a full flight should not be dangerous. Its more dangerous going to a grocery store or taking public transport since the air circulation is absolute cr*p. So if I could choose between a fully booked aircraft or bus, hell yes I'd pick the aircraft.

Encouraging fitness -cooking your favorite American family meals -how you have grown as a couple, and things you believe make a relationship work. -plan your dream trip. -retirement! What does that look like to the both of you where do you want to end up? video compilations and new commentary about: Favorite places you've been to, Favorite food, places you would love to go back to, countries you wish you spent more time in, most affordable places, best experience or most memorable. I’ve been reading a lot of the comments from people thinking it’s ok for these two to travel unnecessarily. I think what’s annoyed most people is that they haven’t ‘read the room’. I don’t think for one minute that they weren’t prepared, loaded with antibac gel, had the best masks and were very careful. However, if you’ve got a platform of 2m subs you have a responsibility to spread the right message and the message right now should be people sticking together to beat this pandemic. Millions of people are struggling, people have lost loved ones, people have lost jobs, it’s a very difficult time for all. Videos have the potential to be a chance to escape the realities of the world at the moment and to be fair, the van series really has been that, I’ve loved it. A jolly to Vegas, the adult’s playground and general good time city, not so much. While I can tell that Kara and Nate are nice people, this screams of entitlement and is a slap in the face to all who are working on the front line, following the rules and going without to protect and support the majority.

They're "nice" but there is a chip missing and at times they are oblivious to other people. As you say, in the times we live in they failed to read the room. Just trying to make drama and torture out of their own decision to take a luxury jaunt to Vegas is insanely out of touch. Ditto complaining about the masks when health care workers have grooves and sores on their faces from being on the front line and Kara and Nate's trip was optional. And health care workers wear those masks twice as long. Thinking of the shade they through at Portland - oblivious to the workers' at the donut place and the circumstances of Portland itself - thinking of the Nile boat workers diving in over their heads in the river to retrieve Kara's lens cap because she inexplicably walked off the boat with camera equipment swinging off the straps at ankle level. Thinking of them happily breaking the rules like when they use their cameras where forbidden (also in Egypt) and their drama over their National Parks actions. They're nice but they weren't "sorry". And along the way had that automotive professional inform you re pipe freezing risks? You'd have helped a local business and at least ensured your ability to travel at least somewhat responsibly. But nope. 2) You wanted to fly so you did at the absolute height of the pandemic in the US and you did it to promote a luxury hotel in a time of epic economic insecurity. You could have taken the van if you hadn't abandoned it when you got home. But obviously the point was to scrap the van, cry crocodile tears and get on a plane. Not that I need to apolgize for them but I am sorry you feel that way Kate, especially to go to the degree of unsubscribing. I've from America and I can't say weve done anything "correctly" per say. I understand our numbers alone could prove that aside from everywhere still trying to figure out what to properly do. I can understand why MANY people choose to take it super seriously (as it's a new virus we don't know anything about and we've been out of control almost the entire time) but I can also understand why also MANY people have decided to continue on w everyday life at this point- while taking the best precautions... heres why: For one, there has been evidence found of hospitals encouraging doctors to say COVID was the cause of deaths for numbers of people because they get x amount of money from the government or whoever. I realize thats not everywhere nor is it all the time, but one may begin to become skeptical because of this. But being a "skeptic" isn't the only reason. Although they have less cases, we saw how great (no sarcasm) the U.K. responded initially... and there were many articles that noted that they almost did "too" well and predicted a worse 2nd wave because they took too far of a precaution. Those articles ended up being correct. So, I believe that a growing number of people have begun to question if constant quarantining is the best option in the long run. (And one may see that as unfortunate or not.) As long as one accepts the risk for their own selves and their peers, if they choose to fly or travel or whatnot, and do so with the proper precautions like quarantining, then I can understand why they choose to do so.

@@evanavazquez8625 it’s also that Australia respects its health workers and understands what the pandemic can do to the health system and the last thing our nations leaders want is an overrun hospital system where people who need care for chronic and life threatening issues separate to those who may contract COVID can still get the emergency care they need. In the US/Italy/UK and I’m sure other European nations are all practicing crisis medicine, which means - young/old/sick/etc, those who have appear to have a ‘greater’ chance of living/recovering will receive treatment. So if you have an uncle with cancer, and he gets a fever but the hospital is full? They might just place him on end of life care. Your hospitals in America are at breaking point. Whether people are dying from Covid or not, some are dying from preventable illness’, that can’t be managed because they’re are no beds. In addition to the true comments above, have you not noticed they were wearing N95 masks the entire time? How are they spreading Covid? Should we all stop working and stay home because others have lost their jobs? Thank God there are masks available so that we are able to safely continue to work, get groceries, do what is necessary. Please think realistically. What are the pilots supposed to do when no one is flying - lose their job and then you will feel better? How very disappointing. Perhaps it's the difference between how Europe and the USA are handling this situation, but, if everyone were to deem themselves special enough, or be in a unique situation that they MUST continue to travel and move around their country, or aboard, there would be millions upon millions of people boarding flights today. I'm sure everyone reading this comment could justify a need a to travel right now, but nearly all are not. A large subscriber base doesn't warrant the 'need' for adventure. It is again disappointing watching people you might deem as 'influencers' or people of interest taking liberties when the rest of the world are sacrificing so much to stay home and not travel so to not continue to promote the spread of this virus....not to mention the work of frontline workers right now! Ps. This is not a trolling comment - I've been a huge fan and supporter of you both for years, I hope you take this as thoughtful feedback as it's intended.

I've given up my entire career for nearly a year, not because I CAN'T travel, but because I shouldn't. Watching influencers say flying during a pandemic feels surprisingly normal to their audience, is honestly a slap in the face. None of this is normal or okay, but as you've said The US has a different way of handling the situation. Unfortunately, there are no consequences unless you contract and spread COVID. Kara and Nate, your fun and energetic videos have brought me so much joy over the past few years. Through your unique storytelling, videoing, and editing you have captured an audience of people who are captivated by every video and will watch no matter what the content is. However, this isn’t it. You are promoting to your incredibly large audience that flying during the height of a worldwide pandemic is acceptable. It is not. Then the icing on the cake, the flight was taken to Las Vegas, a hotspot for COVID. To stay and promote a fancy hotel that most of your audience couldn’t even dream of visiting. You criticized others at the airport for their choices, then climbed aboard that plane and shared the same air those those “reckless” people. I’m interested to see how you both respond to the valid criticism you are receiving. I couldn’t finish the video. I waited a few days to see how you would address this, as I really do understand that living in a pandemic is HARD, and all choices are difficult to make. For example, I have made the choice to not see my family in America in over a year, because it would a reckless thing to do right now, in my opinion. I live in Kenya, with mask wearing laws, nightly curfew, and have limited anytime outside my house. All my choices to ensure my safety and safety of my community. We are all in this together. Many, many, many people’s lives have been negatively impacted by this global pandemic. Lost connectivity, jobs, homes, and people they love. Maybe you both have been blessed and not felt the pain, heartbreak, and worry that a lot of people have felt this year. And I honestly hope not, I would not wish that on anyone. All that to say is this video felt very tone deaf. You guys made a series of choices that are hard to agree with. I know these comments are going to be upsetting to you both, but hear the love people are putting out. You have built an audience that is invested in you and what you do. Take some time to evaluate what you have done and how you can do better. (A good start would be to isolate yourselves from your families to ensure their safety upon your return to Tennessee.) You guys can grow from this.

When this video came up I was so surprised to see the title, it instantly irritated me given what is going on in the world right now. The only reason I clicked to watch the video was to see a good reason as to why you were flying... I didn't see any other than lots of statements encouraging us to feel sorry for you. I get its hard as it's your career but as other commenters have said we are here for your personality and not just the travel. Plus you have plenty of other travel videos we can watch if we want to dream about travelling again. Not sure what it's like workwise in the US, but in UK there as so many self-employed people here that are having to close, put things on hold with no guaranteed income, not to mention half the world in some form of isolation/lockdown. You have, maybe not guaranteed, but many different sources to assist keeping you going during this time without the need to do this. I've been enjoying your videos for a couple of years now - but as an RN who has been working in a COVID ICU for the past several months I have say that your choices to continue to travel during this pandemic are deeply disappointing. This video in particular, where you chose to fly in the post-Christmas and New Year's spikes for no discernibly important reason is problematic to the point of bordering on grossly negligent. While other travel vlogs and "van life" channels are turning to more sedentary content you both seem determined to continue to travel, even when doing so it irresponsible at best. Then to complain about wearing an N95 for 6 hours ... it's slap in the fact to the millions of healthcare workers who wear masks - including N95s for 10, 12, 14, or more hours per shift for days on end while we care for people who contracted this virus, in part through irresponsible behavious (like flying for no reason). Safer at home isn't just a cute phrase. Please take some time to give very serious consideration not only to the effect your actions may have on you and your families but also on the message you are sending by engaging in interstate travel when most local governments are recommending against it.
