The big 3 layer insulator you said had Victor on it. It was made in Victor N.Y. Victor is in upstate N.Y. ...Just out side of Rochester N.Y. .. Im from that area originally. I grew up hearing tales of the Victor insulator factory. So when ever i see a insulator in the woods or in some ones collection i look to see if its a Victor. Pretty cool find. Crazy that you gotta go to Canada to find American made things. But at least your bringing her back to America. Keep up the good work.

I feel for you and your back. I've had several back surgeries and the pain can put you down, right where you stand, even in the middle of the woods. But, the black flies and skeeters would send me running like my tail was on fire....even with a bad back. But, physically, I can't run, so, I guess I would sit on the forest floor and be eaten alive !! Nice insulators. Guess next time, you should wear a bee suit....lol. Thanks for the video. Feel better fast, my friend.

Great insulator finds there, I'd be going back and getting as many as I can. I have a few large ones like those, all brown. It's been awhile since I've been out "insulator hunting". About 10-15 years ago the railroad removed a bunch of telegraph poles and left insulators, pins, crossarms, rolls of wire scattered all over along the tracks. I think I ended up with well over 300 insulators, that's after leaving many Armstrong and Hemingray CD155s.

If you get LED strips and glue them on the inside of the insulators, you can make a really nice lamp out of them. I have a few that look much like the blue ones you found, only a smidge smaller. Mine are made in UK something like 1970s tho.

Walmart has Deep Woods Off for $1.50 can in some areas, Target usually has them on clearance by fall. I only use it on my clothes though, stuff spilled on some of my commercial shelving and ate the paint. Look up dog fennel. It tested more effective than DEET. Had it in my dry pond bed in FL. We'd sit down there and drink at night on the ATV's and NO mosquitoes, none. 100 acres of lake right next door. Put it in the top of my chicken coop and my girls slept mosquito-free.

Awesome! The Chigg hunting insulators. Welcome to the dark side, brother! 😁Nice score on the blue Victor multipart! These were made during the 1920's. The splotched Ohio Brass two-piece is really nice. I have a few of those that I saved from a powerline upgrade. We talked a bit about this at the Radioworld meet and greet. I mentioned that I host the annual insulator show in Perth, Ontario.

@kepvalley
@kepvalley 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure how much these are worth. It really depends on rarity and how in demand it is. As with a lot of collectibles, larger items like these are a bit more unwieldy and more difficult to display so they are not as desirable as a smaller unipart type. There is a value guide for these by Elton Gish. eBay would be a good resource to check and see what they might be going for.

Yeah, late spring and early summer are terrible up north. It should start to improve during July and be mutch less a problem in august providing it's a suny day. I do have a couple of hats fitted with a net, but those black flyes will find a spot on the sleeve and go bite you on the wrist or ankles. As I'm getting older, and maybe a bit wiser, I just avoid the woods up north untill it gets hot enauph to kill them flyes. Sometimes, after a hot july night, you'd see tons and tons of dead flys floating on the lakes. Dont expect good fishing that week as the fishes are over fed with them :) And with the rain we got this spring, it's even worse this year. Well that is for northern Quebec, but i'm pretty sure it's the same in Ontario

I remember one year (when I was little) the shadflies were so bad my grandparents had my sister and I cover all our exposed skin (pull your hands into your sleeves, pull your socks way up, stuff like that) and then we put on what were pretty much homemade beekeeping mesh hats and then they carried us to the car any time we had to go out. They'd end up with horrible bites all over. We barely left the house for a few weeks. But that's what they got for living on the St Lawrence River. Stunning views, deadly swarms.
