I haven’t even watched the video yet, but PLEASE PLEASE continue making videos like this and the flying videos. There is not nearly enough content on these aircraft.

Mark, 'Love ALL of your videos. I have a '79 180 (same year as Dan Wolfe's sweet buggy which you featured a month ago) with Texas Skyway 0-550, Sportsman, VGs, Snider speed kit, IFR. 'Just converted Cessna plastic interior to utility interior. On this video, I would have enjoyed seeing your sight picture as you made your wheel landing which was, by the way, a great landing especially considering you set set down on that "wonderful" Cessna spring gear. You did an awesome job and always look forward to seeing any new videos. Keep up the great work, Mark!

Hi Kevin! Editing is a trade off. I'm a one man camera operator and editor. Sometimes, the shot works, and sometimes it just doesn't. The interior to exterior shot was framed too high to capture the landing, so I used the exterior shot. But, I really appreciate the insight into what our viewers want to see. - Don the camera guy.
@kevinvoges34473 жыл бұрын
Hey, no problem whatsoever. The trade-off is that we saw Mark grease the landing. Job well done.

My first mod, and there would be many on that fresh canvas, would be to remove that light colored dash cover to eliminate the reflection.

I caught the "auto correct" from twinny to twenTy... nice video. I enjoy your sense of humo(u)r. The first time I rode in a 180, we landed on a hilltop there in the foothills. Believe it was called 'Iowa Hill.'

A quick question about your airport: why is the taxiway at the very end, closed off with a yellow "X"? Is it a line of sight safety measure due to runway slope?
@skywagonuniversity50233 жыл бұрын
The airport is on a hill and has no over-run. They shortened it from 4200 feet to 3900 or something and closed the end taxi-ways. It is for IFR traffic etc. The other taxiway is further up to give more room. It's just paint and politics. The full length is best used for safety.

It was a bit of orange fluff that is crammed into the cabin air intake to keep wasps, bees, and other annoying pests from entering the cabin.

You revealed something about yourself I think, when you commented that these aircraft are highly customizable, just like a Harley. Do you have a Harley? I have a Sportster.

I had a Harley, but have sold it, It was a Heritage classic soft tail.

@@skywagonuniversity5023 Heritage Classic will be my last one. Will you or have you purchased another one since this filming? Funny how so many pilots are into motorcycles and boats too.⁉️😊🍀 In any case you did tip your hand when mentioning the modifications possible. Just like a Harley. Only another HD owner would know that⁉️! I have a bmw k75 which is quite often modified for racing or cafe. It must be awesome going to and from work, considering the roads you take⁉️😜

Best models, the old ones but.....180s not made for seal! All my Cessna tail dragger flying was off a grass strip or paddock 🥴
@tu_alum56193 жыл бұрын
I think the "third window model" with the larger tail that you referred to, may be the Cessna 185 model. The 185 models also had fuel injection. As I recall, the name Skywagon name was used to identify the 185 model, not the 180. When the 185 came out, it was considered a significant improvement over the 180, especially for the seaplane configurations, but today, the differences are blurred.
@n701993 жыл бұрын
TU_Alum. Respectfully, little of what you posted is accurate.
@tu_alum56193 жыл бұрын
@@n70199 Respectfully, what are you taking issue with? I worked at a seaplane base in Louisiana during most of the 1960s and this was the case, just as I described. The Cessna 180 was usually referred to simply as the 180 and the Skywagon name was used to describe the 185, when it came out. The more powerful 185 Skywagon was a significant improvement, especially when heavier amphibious floats were used. The main drawback of the early 185s was that the fuel injected engines would sometimes be hard to start and sometimes would not shut down immediately when the mixture was pulled, which made straight-in docking tricky. I don't claim any expertise in this area and I can only relate what I saw and lived with at the time. It may be that in later years that Cessna began to blend the two models together under the same name, since the two airframes have so much in common. As far as my inaccurate post, since you are so knowledgeable, maybe you can enlighten the rest of us.
@towcub3 жыл бұрын
@@tu_alum5619 well, there are late model 180s that use the 185 fuselage with three windows and larger tail. Skywagon was also applied to the 206 at one point but I see that moniker applied frequently these days to 180s. You're right, with all the mods out there, the distinctions between 180s and 185s have diminished somewhat.
@n701993 жыл бұрын
@@tu_alum5619 in 1964, the Cessna 180 received the third window. In 1969 Cessna adds the name “Skywagon” to the 180 series. A 180 has very specific features as does a 185 for each year they were produced. These differences are clearly specified in numerous resources including one at Skywagons.com and these differences have not blurred over time.
@skywagonuniversity50233 жыл бұрын
Both 180's and 185's are called Skywagons and indeed the 206's are too in the early years. 185's are injected 470's from 1961 to 1966 and injected 520's after that until 1985. All 185's have three side windows and 180's got that 3 window fuselage in 1964 until 1981. The 61, 62, 63 180's had the raised roof "three window" cabin but only had two windows in them. Float kits are a factory option. I have videos on all this if you want to see them.
