Never before ever seen a "Stack-Racks" freight train. Love the "Drone-Time" tee shirt. Here in Maryland we call empty coal trains "Hopper Trains" to distinguish loaded trains from empties.

You had a busy railfanning day in Montour, Iowa on 27 April 2024, Red! It was good to see green coming to the trees and some of the fields in the Montour, Iowa area. The two fields appearing at 6:29 were either newly tilled or newly planted. The color of those fields indicate that they should be able to provide good yields this year if the weather conditions in the area are favorable. I enjoyed watching the drone footage, especially the drone footage of the trains using the crossovers. There seemed to be some extra yip-yaps in your neighbor's yard. One day last week one of my neighbor's yip-yap was out in the morning both before and after one of my granddaughters left for school. It seemed like the yip-yap was yipping for the good part of an hour. With all the noise that the dog was making, I thought about you and all the noise that the yip-yaps make by you sometimes.

Yes finally some green in Northern Illinois too Red. Man you folks in Iowa have terrible storms in the last month hopefully the farmers got the rain they’ve needed for a long time. Great video too.

Hi Red, this is another great long intermodal container train from the UP. The hopper train with the lead locomotive Norfolk & Soutern was also very long. They also filmed the other UP Intermodal and the second UP with Intermodal Container Wagons and the Autorack Wagons fantastically. Enjoyed seeing those EMD's in the lead. Seemed more than usual from what I remember of past videos. Maybe it's just my ears, but their horns always sound like they mean business. The empty coal looks like the one that runs to the Oak Creek power plant, most of the time they are double trains and really long with a lot of power on them. Coal keeping my lights on in S.E. WI. One of the reasons you have likely not seen a We Energies double coal is the city of Kenosha, WI has been complaining that the double coal trains take too long to get through crossings when they come through town. With summer coming they should be ramping up the trains. In WI most of our energy still is coming from coal for some time to come. I have not seen a coal train passing by for some time, so I think they are running them thru in the middle of the night now so Kenosho will stop complaining about the super long trains.
