The BRAND NEW Freewing twin 64mm F-14 Tomcat has gotten a lot of attention, and for good reason. They took the popular twin 80mm version and scaled it down into a perfect model. Tom Hunt set his up for FPV and the first impressions LOS & FPV is that it is true an amazing RC Airplane.

Glad to see that F-14 has the correct livery. Never been able to fathom how any RC hobbyist would want anything OTHER than the Jolly Rogers scheme.

I will allow myself to disagree. I far prefer the final livery, which was the stealth matt grey with black writing and decals. That to me looked much more "sinister". That was what I used on my Flight Sim Tomcat.

I dont know if this works on RC canopies, but in scale models of fighter planes you can use Future Floor Wax or some other equivalents or polishing compounds to get canopy crystal clear. Would be cool if it makes enough of a difference to clear up the the thru canopy view for the FPV camera.

Wow.. I think you might be onto something here.. Combine this with those crazy accurate cockpits.. There could be some crazy looking realistic stuff. Maybe just take the canopy plastic/glass out, maybe thin down the pillars though they might be accurate your eye wouldn't "see" them as much or the camera makes them more viable.. I really think this could become really interesting. 3rd edit.. The F-14 is just the sexiest aircraft ever.. I just don't think, in my mind, they could ever design a plane that looks so perfect again. I grew up in the 80's with Robotech, GoBots, and Transformers. The F-14 is just chefs kiss and your model looks sexy. Starscream and F-15 a distant second.

I considered that, but again, this model and cockpit is rather small. That artificial horizon decal is less than 1/2" sq.

In the case of the F-14 sweep = speed. But not in our models. I doubt the speed increases more than a few MPH between fully fwd and fully aft. I will check that one day.

Get that canopy fixed so its clear on all sides. Only the view through the front looked clear. Through the sides it looked very blurry and cloudy

Hey Jay Help me out with this FPV STUFF.. What gets me and there are alot videos about fpv in the cockpit, but nobody shows what is need to install this and what is required. Oh I may be wrong there are videos and alot of ppl show FPV but they really dont list on what is required to do this and list the parts and everything you need to do this. I talk with my friend about this who is a master rc guy and all I ever get is oh this is very expensive and this will cost you everything you own. I have dji goggles the dji goggles for my Avata drone and the version 2 avata goggles and I just want to do this in alot of my planes I want some to to talk to me about this. this is a tech that all. Hey Jay help me out?
