This is a nice kit. I built the early version last summer in the dazzling yellow wing livery. I prefer to build my aeroplanes wheels up and it took some fiddling to work out how to make it work. For me 2021 was pretty much the Pacific Theatre for subject matter. I am enjoying watching this and taking notes. Your weathering is eye candy for me.

Masking & Painting Canopy or clear parts I use the following, bond for woodworking (aqueous vinyl acetate resin type emulsion type adhesive) use Coloring with watercolor paint is possible. Apply thickly, spread using a thin bar and surface tension. After painting drying, it becomes easier to peel off when warmed up

Really outstanding work on the HB kit (I have one enroute FM-1 to me at the moment, along with an F4F-4). One small point, the Grey and White color scheme was also known as the "Atlantic" scheme as most Wildcats serving in the Atlantic were Based on smaller "Jeep" or Escort carriers rather than on land (Although some were in places like Florida, the Bahamas and Caribbean) So it is more likely the weathering would be usually greasy and oily (Like most ships!) rather than dusty, unless the unit was land-based. All that moisture, you see?

I have a modelling schedule :) I've done 1/32 Spitfire long time ago, it's my first time lapse video, have a look. I will make another one in 1/48 later this year. Also I made mustang but it's not recorded, perhaps I'm gonna make a video to show all my model kits collection.

2 things here- The Wildcat is an extremely difficult model plane to make it look interesting and detailed. It’s shape isn’t that sexy. That woman’s voice definitely great for ASMR 💯

Well.. I don't know actually. These are laquer based so it should be fine without but I prefer to use anyway. I also use primer to spot mistakes during filling/sanding

I was not aware they were lacquer based. Primer probably should be used to protect the plastic prior to paint application not to mention finding areas that need touch up before paint is applied. Thanksss

Jak farby Hataka? Sam używam serii b do malowania pędzlem ale nie używałem tych do aerografu. Czy są porówbywalne z Tamiyami pod względem gładkości?

Stachu Słowikowski Tak. Ale te sa bardziej podobne do Gunze Mr.color, A te to chyba najlepsze farby. Hataka bardzo dobra, choć nie używałem ich akryli pod aerograf (czerwonych) ale pewnie będą podobne do miga lub vallejo

The one thing I still can't figure out is how to use Tamiya panel line wash without messing up the underlying clear coat or staining it. If I wipe it off too early, it wicks the pigment out of the panel lines and rivets. If I wipe it off too late, it leaves a permanent stain on the clear coat and decals and starts to dissolve the clear coat making it sticky. Any suggestions?

When its completly dry wipe it off with a use of enamel thinner like AMMO Mig odorless thinner for example. Just add a little to a tissue or even on a cotton bud and just wipe that off.

lovely work, the painting is fantastic, however, I was shocked at the finish on the canopy, literally, shockingly poor considering the over all finish of the aircraft. I didn't expect that.

Very nice model ! Indeed you made a mistake with the guns, the F4F-3 wasn't armed with 20mm but with 4x.50. You can either cut the barrels to turn into a .50 or keep it like that :D

There is NO such thing as a 50mm gun on a Wildcat, that would be a ridiculously big cannon! The guns were four .50 which means four guns with a 12,7 mm bore. The confusion comes from the fact that some guns (mostly the American made ones) are measured with the *Imperial system,* in this case ".50" stands for "half an inch", while some other guns are measured in millimeters with the standard *metric system.*

What kind of cement/glue are you using? You´re gluing painted pieces without sanding the contact surfaces. everytime I try that with Tamiya or any other similar cement and it doesn´t stick the pieces together. I always have to sand the contact surfaces before gluing them.

I´ll be a bit more specific. The one you use at 3:25 for gluing the cockpit inside the fuselage.

That's just tamiya cement. I use it on the parts that are not visible.from the outside. The amount of glue here will.go and melt the paint. I would not do that on the outside

When you sanded the top spine ,you should have re-engraved the lines. The ribbing on the airlones should have been sanded down to pronounced, power blowback on gun not realistic. Other than that good job.
