think York are the most popular team to pick in that league, me n two friends without conferring also picked them for our lower league start, I haven't bought an FM game since 2012, used to play this sorta game every year for a long time then got bored of the difficulty due to the depth and the money focus. I picked up FM20 in sale, these tips will be useful as I messed up my first try

I'm doing a third lanark save, started in 4th tier. huge simple tip regarding trialists, is in scotland you can play up to 2 trialists in league games. i repeatedly re signed players on 4 week trials and it got me through the season with zero money lol. i made the mistake of investing heavily in 5 star regens, i now have the best reserve team in history lol.

York is indeed the best start, professional team, and you can totally overhaul it in no time with way younger and more quality players in two to three weeks. Amazing.

@@thehorde4868 You start hiring youngsters with good stats - if you play with hidden stats, foreknowledge helps. Otherwise, activate european leagues (Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, etc. help a lot) and start hiring people - Moulden, Enchev, Tasim, Ackroyd, McSkeane, Boote, Mylo Hall, and others come to mind and sell the veterans to Vanarama National teams (they leave happily), plus the board doesn't object as you will be a couple thousand pounds over the transfer budget. I have played FM for a while and I know some good players to hire that usually have PA 100+ - that's more than enough to get a VNN team going, and York IMO is the best one.

Try managing the Italian 5th Tier. Players get snapped up for free and you make absolutely no profit off anyone. Everyone's amateur, and it's very difficult to get quality players loaned in.

Data Analysis is one of the most important staff you could have . its not about reporting ! its in match reports . they tell you during the match what to do like playing direct or short or playing wide or narrow . they gives you advice's during the match . you better lessen to some of their advice's .

A lot of clubs simply don´t have any possibilities to get affiliates, it took me 9 seasons after repeated asking to get M. City as a senior affiliate with Gateshead. By then I was at league 1 and I did benefit from City but it took far too long.

Data analysts can also be used as coaches ...very often in the lower leagues you can't get enough coaches.

I wish there were tips on how to manage semi pro teams with budgets of 0 and no scouts and zero knowledge on any players outside of the club.

I have the problem that all the players I want to loan can´t join me because their clubs feel they should be playing with higher quality players. The players themselves are interested. At Gateshead getting a senior club is apparently not possible, would be lovely to know if a club is barred from getting that, they have searched 3 times and now the option isnt even there.

Otherwise it might be fine for me but I would absolutely hate it if the DoF left a minimum foreign release clause of too low amount there. That could cost you millions

How to offload a guy on 2k a week who was bought juat before the game started when your Lega Pro team barely averages 1000 spectators? Also, why does my team have no room for staff but 3 physios at this level? I expect to go bust (in reality, they did).

hello, i installed football manager 2020 and i have some problems, when i press right click on a player i dong get full menu options, only 3 or 4 options like at 17:39 , i cant transfer offer them or make an offer, even when i took over my national team i cant even add or remove players, cuz when i press right click i dont get full menu bar with all options, even cant go on vacation, anyone knows what i did wrong? i wanna play and this is frustrating

If youre in a lower league like than Vanarama North/South (for example level 8 in the English Pyramid), where should you look for loan players?

Vanarama North/South are the 6th Tier of English football, not the 8th. If you are this far down you should ask your board about senior affiliates all the time, the extra money and loans are really important. Allways Check League 2 Teams and their respective youth squad for potential loan Players, allways check league 2 and league one teams for youth players with expiring contracts. This doesn´t mean you sign good league 2 and 1 talent, you sign the players that have too little potential for those teams to even consider. Vanarama N/S to Vanarama National isn´t a huge jump in quality so there will be no good loanies here, the jump in quality from Vanarama N/S to League 2 is massive, thats why you should look for loanies there.

I am struggling to get players on loan or free agents due to wage budget myself, picked up a few players, Yalany Biao, Lassane Miete (wonderkid not sure sp) Scott Doe, a friend keeps telling me Langstaff is a really good player for York, would you recommend playing two up front? I don't currently and its ok, but my strikers ain't scoring much.

just get loads of fitness coaches, as many as allowed. look for determined or professional personalities with as good stats as possible. the personality is more important.

I did a career with Ebolitana, went from a newly promoted Serie C2 team to 2nd in Serie A in 8 years, I think it was FM 2012 or something like that. In 2020, I'm with Skövde AIK, started from First Division South and after two full seasons I got to Allsvenskan and I'm top half there with a top half First Division Elite budget, 27k. What I wanted to say is, the loans aren't what take your team to the top. They obviously can fill some empty spots after you have spent the most of your budget, but you would prefer them to be subs rather than your key players. I think one should use the budget to get your own key players, preferably young of course. Because what really takes your club to the next level is transfer income. It rarely is possible to buy the players when you are really low on budget. For example, in First Division South I had less than 3k and no transfer budget. So if you have the patience to go through all the junior national teams to see who are playing for really small clubs (who will sell them to you for free) and also who are running out of contracts or already out of contracts, that's the best way to find promising youngsters. I for example got a guy from Finnish U19 national team for free and after he spent half a season with me, playing only a couple of games, he got bought with 350k. A bit later in the game, when your scouting range allows it, also scout all the players from the top clubs of the world who have affordable expiring contracts. The players that are trash to them might really be a jackpot to you.

How can I decrease my Wage Amount? I'm like 15k over but I have only signed Non Contract players that don't get a wage but it keeps going up. Any help?

hi. I've taken several weak conference teams to the premiership over my years playing, and the very first thing I always do when starting a new game is look at my player contracts and do everything I can to get rid of my top earners, regardless of ability. getting your wage bill to not just meet the boards expectations, but even dropping that bill by another one third, is more important than keeping key players. it's also more important than signing fantastic players who will cripple you financially. my goal over the first 2-3 seasons with a lower league team, is to (almost) completely replace my current roster with one that keeps my club's finances moving in the right direction. it really helps over time if you enjoy manually searching through reserve/obscure teams, and if you are managing an English conference team, for example, make sure you include some leagues like scandanavian lower leagues too to manually search for talent (usually on loan, sometimes free transfer). if my wage bill is very healthy, I will buy 1-2 quality players IF the wages aren't too high and I consider their ability to be unquestioned, but the rest of the squad will just be good value pickups.

just wanted to add, bringing in a 'marquee player' who is earning more than the rest of the squad (and is a lot better), is much easier to do from a position of strength, when you have your wage bill well under control. but once again, know what your limits are, and don't ever bring in a player who wants more than you can afford (no matter how good he is). with a lower league team, remember you're in it for the long haul.

your coaches could be driving up your wage and your players could also be on a lot of bonuses. There's 2 things to consider with wage: Payroll budget and the actual balance of the club. I'm in a save with The Unicorn in a 12-level save in England. been promoted 4 seasons straight so maybe in this database, the bottom divisions are mostly all the same. Anyways, my payroll budget is $100k but i can really only spend 50-60k because even with a good cup run and gate receipts, that is about all the income I bring in and I don't ever like to go below -$15k negative. here's how you find good players in non-league. - Preseason, offer trials to a ton of people. Player search, homegrown, out of contract and just invite them all in. After 1 week, they are fully scouted. - Use your trialists in friendlies. Load up your schedule. Try to make between $500-$1k/match. Play the trialists so your main team doesn't get too worn down - Search for loans but don't ever pay. A lot of clubs will loan the player for free to you - look for Swiss-army knife type players. I'd prefer an AM-(LRC) versus a ST for a bench role. I have a defender on my team who can play all sides of mid and all def positions. - take control of your U18 and U23 team recruiting. I haven't found much value in growing them at this level since you can't lock players into long-term contracts.

you don't lose any more money releasing youth players. you're only paying their contracts out. it's better to push them for mutual termination, that way they might take a half price deal.

Hmm as a national league manager, my general manager keeps recommending foriegn players that would require nearly a third of my total wages due to brexit foriegn players minimum contracts... lol

Getting rid of the all u23's is a waste of money. Most teams cannot afford to offload such amounts, so sparingly!! Furthermore a good director of football is paramount to a football team, he is your focal point for procuring the most unlikely transfers...to make better use of the hire someone with a reputable network in order to sign your desirable player. Moreover, a data analyst offers you trends and statistics which are almost impossible to notice without any research, he offers you better in site on how your team behaves on the pitch and dissarns the opposition.
