Always cool hearing the sound of the flanges slow down or speed up.

Far out, our trains are babies compared to that. Wouldn't like to be walking back to the last wagon to check anything 🫢 I think it would be pretty Kool to drive it.

@janeevans3032 oh yea definitely, id be super mad walking one of those being they have twice as many axles, hoses and knuckles as one of ours lol! And as far as running it im sure its not rocket science but all that tonnage as a conventional setup is crazy you just gotta be really careful and make sure your brakes release before you start tugging on it.

Yes they run ore out to Port Hedland

Yes, hauling ore by road and causing massive congestion on the highway. They struggle making it up the hills. Been stuck behind many.

Is that one of those driverless trains?

This train does have a driver. Rio Tinto’s trains are the driverless ones .

It’s strange seeing America Locomotives in Australia.

@@keithammleter3824 Some locos are built here. In the past UK was also a significant supplier of steam and diesel locomotives...eg English Electric

@@Kiwigeo8339 True. But the OP commented about American types being in Australia, today. Britain used to be a major supplier of almost everything, but ceased to be so in the 1960's when they lost favourable trading conditions, became an unreliable supplier due to excessive strikes, and persisted with poor quality. English Electric was better than most British firms in terms of quality and engineering excellence, but never the less ceased to exist 56 years ago. Its operations and assets were sold to GEC, run by the dreadful Arnold Weinstock, who believed that research and development was unnecessary, since you can always just buy whatever you want from another firm. Locomotives made in Australia were and are made to designs supplied by overseas parent companies, and using imported technology. There thus never was such a thing as an Australian locomotive, only US or British ones. Unless you believe that, for example, a Triumph 2000 car was Australian because they were assembled by Australian Motor Industries (Toyota) using engines, transmission, etc imported from Britain, the whole car being identical to the British design except for the radio.

very noisy compared to American rails. but be aware they are not employing crews for these trains any longer. the mine corps are so greedy they do not want to pay humans to drive these mega trains.

I think these FMG trains have drivers. Rio Tinto runs driverless trains.
