I'm waiting for Will to write back. He had 1,000's at one point and is now pretty low. I didn't realize that when recording as he'd had them in stock for years. Go figure! Someone commented a Spicer part number, but not sure exactly what that includes as no image of it is available.

I'm considering putting my own rebuild kit together with the bare minimum parts, like the diaphragm, spring, metal backing plate, 4 hex bolts and center sealing screw IF I can source everything for a reasonable cost. Genuine Dana/Spicer stuff isn't cheap, and usually direct orders require a bulk order.

I did have some extra of the genuine filters & went back and installed. Forgot I had them. :) I think what happens with the balance beads, is they "clean" the inside of the wheel & kick rust free. Also, anything nasty in the tire. Probably a good idea to service the filters after a year or so if you have them. As far as the broken screws, I'm glad they didn't break for the instructional purposes of this video. I have a crate of about 13 to still rebuild. If one has them that brake, I will end up making a follow-up video showing the remedial action to fixing it I think as like you, I'm sure many will have that issue & like the guidance. I have been doing some digging, and I think that flat screen was intended for a different vehicle, not the FMTV.

The center screw is never supposed to be screwed into the back plate for the spring. There are no valves with internal differences. Someone put it together incorrectly & it sounds like the internals & the diaphragm are ruined. Probably worth just replacing the wheel valve if the hoses are good. It's strange that the system didn't leak. But you ran a serious risk of a quick flat with them being like that as all the CTIS was pressurized with your tire pressure at all times like that more than likely. Bad for many things.

@@CallMeColtLLC yeah, I thought it was pretty bizarre with my understanding of how they work. The screw was not through the rubber just through the steel cup And the cup is threaded. I checked the valve on the next axle and it’s the same way. I would send a photo if I could. The hoses and everything else seem to be in good condition.

@@jaydittmer1438 it just sounds like somebody put them together the wrong way and that the screw ended up puncturing the metal backing for the spring because it was put in backwards. It's possible it damaged the inside of the valve seat as well.

I'm by no means a hydraulic line expert, so I don't have a recommendation. I just know they have the reinforcement in there. I didn't end up finding a local place that would take the liability of using old fittings so I gave up & listed the old hoses I had that were bad on my eBay.

@@CallMeColtLLC hey Colt, I took an old style and a new style ctis in to a really good family owned shop today. I explained the improved swivels that were needed. I will let you know when I hear more.
