Can FN make a product worthy of civilian infatuation on the level a countries military contract is?
Often we question innovation of particular firearms and corresponding companies, but to what avail? If performance is all you can ask for then the argument stops there. Did it perform?

Bought this recently and saw everyone complaining about cycling issues. So, instead of just taking it out as soon as i got it, i cleaned it, over the next few days i cycled the slide probably 4-500 times with oil in it. When i finally got to the range it ran flawlessly, i ran 115 range ammo, 115 carry ammo, 124 range and carry as well and it was perfect for me. ZERO COMPLAINTS, I LOVE THIS DAMN THING!

As always right?! There are no perfect people in the world, but FN seemed to find a couple because not one single person in the history of ever has had an issue with their FN. I don’t discredit your experience so don’t discredit mine. P.S. My CZ, H&K, Sig Sauer, Canik and Glock shot the “junk ammo” just fine.

The first 300 rounds are your break in period where FN requires u to use a certain brand of almost + p target ammo. After that, it will eat anything. It has to break in first. I’ve contacted FN before purchasing mines and was informed.

The price is a huge factor why I don't consider buying an FN. Sure, if I had a spare $1,500.00 laying around I'd pick one up, but for that amount, I could afford a Walther PDP compact and a Canik Rival SF, which both have superior triggers over the FN.

It’s the recoil spring. Mine kept doing this until ~400rds because the recoil spring was so heavy at first, paired with the very effective comp, the slide didn’t go all the way back… Good thing about that is less wear on the firearm over higher round counts. I’m actually surprised you didn’t have more malfunctions since its your first shots lol I’m sitting at 1,500rds right now, no malfunctions within the last 1k.

Found a reddit post where someone claims to have spoken with FN about the lock back. They recommended a specific brand of 124g that was almost +P, 200 rounds worth, to break everything in. Haven't picked mine up yet but that's what I intend to try doing. Would make sense I suppose, it is a lightened, cut slide along with a comp to reduce recoil. Need that hotter ammo to break the recoil spring in?

Maybe because it's a smaller weapon, your thumb is riding the slide release when firing? Maybe when the gun moves from muzzle flip, the thumb temporarily makes contact with the release and once the gun settles, it's not making contact. Some levers on race guns are super sensitive to that. When I first got my SigP320 X5 Legion, would sometimes do the same thing if I barely touched the release while it cycles. It doesn't do that now that it's broken in. The grain weight of the caliber matters too though when you're dealing with comps. 115 grain is probably pushing the slide back just far enough to cycle the weapon but not quite far enough to catch the slide release on the last round. Comps like 124 grain a whole lot more.
@PoodooDdoo4U
@PoodooDdoo4U Жыл бұрын
Also if it's a recoil spring rated for NATO rounds it won't be calibrated for standard 115 grain weight. Could also be how firm of a grip is taken when firing seeing as how the other guy shooting had the slide lock back and also the failure to feed malfunction. That should matter alot less once the gun is broken in.

Yeah as much as FN’s cost (especially that UGLY 545 and 510 they came out with that looks like a 509 asking 1k) you would think out of the box functionality issues wouldn’t be a thing. I know a few people who are rabid about FN’s and I’ve wanted to like them but at the price point and being so big you can’t carry them (or not many) I just expect more and don’t get it from FN. The FNX Tactical I liked pretty good probably the only thing they have at the moment that I like, but had a few hiccups with it out of the box too. If your slide isn't locking back, that means your thumb is on the slide lock. Or the thumb is on a slide. Other issue might be the too much grip strength. Most likely you are somehow touching the slide lock. Also, compensator needs break in, try 100 rounds of 124 grain. Make sure to lube feed ramp, barrel hood.

I mean with that logic everything that’s made cars, trucks, boats etc etc then everyone else is chasing the first and can never be as good and I think a logical person knows better. No chance that a Glock is better than a CZ P10-F, P10-C or S. No chance it’s better than a H&K VP9. No chance it’s better than a than a Walther PDP. Glock is a great reliable gun but runs more now than ever off its name. Sure people copied then but it doesn’t mean they didn’t do it better.
