That laugh is on point!

I couldn't tell you exactly how it was done, as I'm not one hundred percent sure, but the broomstick was hollow and one of our tech guys packed it with flash paper. There was also a small battery pack and a button for me to push in order to "light" the flash paper. But sadly, I don't know the specific and technical way it worked. Sorry I don't have more information.

When I did a kids production of Wizard of Oz when I was 12 I played the witch and we had a platform I melted on. It was a two guy job so we had the two strongest guys in tech crew working it and it had to be very precise. We had practiced a million times making sure they knew the exact cue for them to start pulling since one was directly under me and the other was a little further back in the wings. Now one night we’re doing the scene as normal and it gets to the scene. I start going down... and almost fall off completely. The platform is tilting and apparently the guy who was directly under me didn’t realize it until an out of place scream that wasn’t normally in my screams. It was dark so he couldn’t see much but he managed to grab my legs to keep me up. I kept going while trying to keep myself somewhat balanced until finally the other side of the platform starts going down. So what happened? Well apparently the guy working it from in the wings was distracted... flirting with one of the female tech members. One girl in the show (who was like 8) sees this and is like “what scene is it” and hears the scream. This tech member was known to slack off so she wasn’t going to try to convince him to go hurry to me and immediately runs to the other nearest tech member who, luckily, had a headset on and tells the stage manager that tech guy wasn’t at his platform. The stage manager and one other girl had to pull together since they weren’t strong enough individually and were the closest ones to the pulley system. Obviously the guy got in trouble and cussed out (away from the innocent children in the cast) and it didn’t happen again for the last few shows.

Perfect amount of smoke. But with this actresses exceptional performance I think the scene was a little rushed she was already down before she finished the last sentence. She should be down when she starts saying the words oh at the end
