The centering grade on the Mew is absolutely off, should be a 9.5 at least, CGC is crazy harsh

I pulled that alt art tyranitar from battle styles on my first ever battle styles pack. I had just started collecting so I thought that rainbows were more valuable. My "friend" who had been collecting for years said his rainbow marshadow gx was more valuable and I had trusted him because he had collected longer. Long story short I lost a 100 dollar card to a 5 dollar card. He refused to trade it back and then proceeded to trade it to someone who doesnt live near me for 10 rainbows

Hi, question for commenters and/or Foafy himself. I recently got back into collecting cards and i have a few id like graded, for example the Alt Art Giratina VSTAR, however given the value of that Giratina and my love for the specific pokemon, im afraid of it getting lost or scuffed in mail. To anyone who grades often, whats the best place to send in? And how would i go about doing it?

Still not a fan of CGC. They did some sketch stuff to gain steam in the TCG grading space and they don't come across as STRICT to me but more as INCONSISTENT. No one wants a ton of 8.5 and 9.5s, I'd much rather have a PSA 9. Just my taste I guess.

Grading modern cards without AI, is very sketchy. CGC might be better than PSA, but without scans that highlight and explain every issue with the card on a very consistent basis.. this is purely subjective. Human grading lacks consistency. Rule of thumb these days on modern is that 9's sell for about the same as raw. Everyone sleeves, top-loads, and usually dust bags big hits right out of the pack. I personally don't like sending in my favorite cards to be judged by a $15/hr newbie that has seen less than .1% of the cards that I've seen. I don't need a subjective opinion on the card's condition.. I can see the condition. I don't need a non-collector to judge my cards. Artificial Intelligence grading is different. Those are structured to be consistent.. which is the ONLY important aspect to card grading. MANA probably does it best, but AGS looks to be consistent also.. I just don't like their pumping of collectorcoin and not having subs on the slab. If you are still using random people to assign your grades.. get with the times. We have technology that eliminates the need for any min wage opinion. To each their own. Cheers.
