Foam cannons help to blanket your car with a thick layer of snow foam. They combine pressurized water and car wash soap to create a thick layer of foam. They feature an adjustable intake valve that controls how much snow foam you’d like to produce. This creates a blanket of foam that will lubricate the surface, giving you a lesser chance of leaving any micro-scratches when you wash your car. A foam cannon also helps to remove loose dirt, contaminants and pollen during the pre-wash stage.
In this foam cannon comparison video, you'll see how to use a foam cannon for a car wash. Hi Pan. Great video as usual. In the UK the MMJC Cannon Pro V2 can be bought from in2detailing (I have no affiliation with them) who sell it for £38 (the Amazon link you provided is £53). On the maximum mixture setting, the MJJC can go through chemicals at a higher rate than PA type lances. This means that you can achieve PIR of about 10% (rather than 7%), making it a viable alternative to a pump sprayer if you want to apply chemicals at high concentration levels (e.g. APC foam in wheel arches). Most snow foam instructions are based on the PA type lances, so if you want to stick to those PIR levels you can either turn down the mixture setting or reduce the amount of product by 25%-30%. If it had the same tactile clicking that the MTM has on the mixture dial and pitch/rake nozzle adjustment it would be almost perfect.

Pan you are a great help to me, doing thorough testing and examining all of the features of these products. The weighted balls in the pickup tubes are helpful to me since I wash several rvs and find myself spraying at different angles.

Great Video and in-depth review. I am leaning towards MJJC because I feel like it is the quickest to change the orifice - only need screw driver, price is competitive as well. Black and red combination for the fan adjustment also appealing. Only downside - it is little bulky.

I got the newest model of the MJJC and it's now my goto foam cannon. Swapped out with the 1.1mm Orifice and it puts on a nice constant heavy foam using a cheap $100 1600psi Ryobo electric pressure washer with 1oz of Adam's Mega Foam.

Great afterwash tip about running plain water through, and rinsing the filters after every use. It really does keep the foam action strong longer. I got tired of replacing the filters on my MTM every few months.

I use an in-line 40 micron filter leading to the pressure washer to avoid that exact problem. Easier to change out/clean the in-line filter than the mtm filter.

Maybe it's me, but I would have thought the obvious thing to do is clean it out afterwards? I don't really understand why anybody wouldn't do that. Any sort of chemical isn't going to do any good left in there for any length of time.

My MaxShine started spraying water with a full amount of foam/water mix… I’ll try running some water through it next time I do a foam/contact wash in a few hours.

It's very important to run clean water in the foam cannon for at least 30 seconds after each use.

I have the Griot’s and really enjoy the experience. I think the great advantage of this one over the rest is it can be purchased basically at every auto store. I got mine from PepBoys and they were plenty of stock there.

As a PF22.2 owner, I liked the MJJC over the Griot's for the measurements marked on the container. That would probably be my next one if this MTM ever breaks. The small opening is super annoying, but it's what I have.

Great review! I was leaning toward the Griots as well but then I like the ability of the MJJC to go vertical and horizontal. But maybe that is not really necessary? Just a nice to have. I guess the thicker foam of the Griots would win out over the vertical/horizontal function.

To be fair, the way you made your passes with the Griot over lapped more and you did more passes. I still think the foam was thicker from the initial front panel spray and liked the design. I noticed on Amazon, (2) reviewers stated they had issues after a month and even rinsing and got no reply from Griot's customer svc! I personally have the Chemical Guys cannon and like it, but the downfall on Chemical guys, as of June '21 is they don't sell any spare bottles! So if you crack the thinner walled bottle, its done! I'm so glad you covered the quality of the water and watched your water softener review! I recently installed both a whole home softener (potassium chloride used) and also installed a Dionized Water (D.I.) for rinsing. I couldn't beleive how much thicker the foam was, even with a more than capable 2700psi gas pressure washer! I'm curious and will have to see how the foam comes out with the DI water. I was told CR Spotless owner (Chuck I beleive) that you can't use soft water as it will prematurely use the one resin (I think it was the (cat-ion) leaving the an-ion and that its better to use hard water. With this being said, Chuck was willing once I used up the initial resin to experiment with dual cat-ion resin cartridges but was told it would leave a fishy smell! I said, nope not gonna deal with it... One other thing not covered, but confirmed the MJJC Gen2 has the silicone tube with the weighted ball as well! Anyway, I digressed a bit but excellent video as always!

Last week I finally got my new GMC Sierra pickup ….. spent one day detailing the exterior with final protection of Turtle Wax Paste Wax 75th Anniversary followed by a top coat of Turtle Wax Flex Wax with Graphene. Spent a half day detailing the interior, cleaning the leather and all surfaces with McKee’s 37 Leather Shampoo and then protected everything with McKee’s 37 Si02 Leather Guard! I feel my new truck is now prepared for staying clean with routine washes for the next 6 months 🤠

Toujours un excellent video, Pan ! Ils sont tous trop chers à mon avis, on peut en avoir un bon pour la moitié du prix de ces modèles. Critère important: la largeur de l'orifice pour verser le savon et assez large pour la stabilité. Autre "nice to have": la facilité d'accès pour le remplacement de l'orifice. Une bonne innovation serait de trouver une façon plus simple de rinser le mécanisme sans avoir à remplir d'eau claire et l'utiliser pendant 30 sec., c'est un peu fastidieux.

The newer version of the MJJC has much better foam for sure. I have tested both. Need to get my hands on the Griots and Chemical Guys to test as well. Also that connection is an M22 14mm so people with non upgraded pressure washer wands can screw this directly to their wands. Nice Video!

As a professional detailer, I’ve owned the MTM for nearly 5 years. It just recently started to fail after heavy usage 5-6 days a week during that time. The foam has become horribly runny. Thorough cleaning has not resolved the issue. I think the salt in my softened water has corroded the metal surfaces within. Extremely happy with the product! In its prime, the MTM gave me years of thick and rich foam. Would definitely buy again!!

Pan, I agree with you, the GG Foam Cannon for the win. I knew as soon as I saw the demo, it would be the PTO champ. The other small feature I like is having the adjustment on the side, better ergonomics, Griots put some thought into to this design.

Nice video Pan! But there's something i was hoping to see in your video that didn't 😔 It's probably not something a lot of people cares about since basically what everyone wants is thick foam and cheap cannon. I had the pf22.2 and loved almost everything about it except the small filling mouth and the capacity of the reservoir. It says 32oz but technically you can only do 24oz +3oz if you're mixing 8:1 I've been wanting to get the new brilliant finish cannon because it's said and proved again here , that it outperforms the foam quality of the MTM and 20.00 cheaper. Plus it has a big filling mouth and for what it looks like, it has a bigger reservoir . But, only reason why i haven't is because I've noticed in most videos when comparing to the MTM , is the product consumption rate. Not everyone cares or pays attention to that, but i personally do lol. That's one thing i love about the Pf22, that it takes forever to go thru the 27oz of products... I literally covered 2 full size sedans with 1 bottle 8:1 , where the griot's brilliant finish seems to go thru product as fast as my trinova does. To me, that tells me that whatever they did to the Pf22 , nailed it!!! Cause it mixes water/soap way better using less and giving more foam. It's foam feels lighter than others , has more volume than weight, yet it still encapsulates enough dirt for a pre-wash. I just hope one day soon they come up with a big mouth reservoir, but i know it's expensive and probably not worth investing for the company. Sorry for the long reply 😅

Yeah it's very important to "flush" the foam cannon by running clean water in it for at least 30 seconds after each use. That way, I never had to service my foam cannons, ever.

I washed your previous video last year were you offered the comparison of the max shine. I thought it was a good sprayer relatively cheap . The only problem I had with maxshine was the bottle connection to the foam gun was rather loose after a couple of Washings. So watching the video we chose the Griots foam gun which was your pick also. Great content.

@@PanTheOrganizer I can’t decide. I’m an Uber driver and I watch your regular maintenance wash videos often when I’m cleaning my car. But I love the detail videos and the educational ones too. I hate spending money so when I purchase something I want to know it’s worth my hard earned dollars. And I’m learning French so your French videos play a lot when I’m trying to train my ear and learn new vocabulary.

I wouldn't trade my MTM for anything, like you said the main issue is the small opening on the bottle, but what I do to remedy this is I use a measuring cup and premix my soap with water. I get a more acurate mix that way because I also find the numbers difficult to read on the bottle itself.

Perfect timing for me Pan! I have a PF22 that I purchased in 2016. I’ve performed maintenance on it twice with kits from MTM. I also have a PF22.2 I have not used. I’ve watch Phil compare the PF22 and Griot’s latest Foam Cannon. He was impress, but wasn’t initially enthusiastic with the foam adjustment knob. I’ve watched several KZfaq videos on the MJJC Foam Cannon Pro. I like the way the 1/4” Adapter attaches to the body versus using tape. Have one in my Amazon Wish List, but think I will order from MJJC. Now getting ready to “Sit back and watch the show”! I’ll be ordering the MJJC.

My favorite is the MTM PF22.2 I also have one and i like the feel of the turn knob. I used to use a chemical foam before the new big mouth one. I didnt like the adjustment knob it doesnt stay in the setting well.

its extremely durable and made for commercial soaps like house cleaning to my knowledge, but it definitely doesnt cream the same rich foam as these cannons

@@boppernostopper8598 Have you ever used this foam cannon, or are you guessing? It produces thick foam with my Kranzle pressure washer. If you're using a Karcher, this doesn't produce enough liters per minute to produce any foam with any cannon.

@@lilacgrove youre not washing the car with a foam gun, youre just sudsing it up to be handwashed. Any extra water or soap being used in the name of "high volume" is likely just alllll a big bunch of waste. It takes seconds to soap up a car even with this 25 -30$ cannons

I really liked my Tool Daily $15 cannon. It lasted me nearly a year with doing 4-6 vehicles a week. Currently have the slightly more expensive TriNova. I didn't even swap out for a 1.1mm orifice but it foams just as good as these in the video. I set the knob to a higher water dilution for the inital foaming so that it's more runny to allow surface dirt to slide off, then turn the knob so it's a high soap dilution so it clings during the hands on wash.

it also uses more product though. if you want the MTM to produce the same foam just adjust the top valve accordingly.

Pan, I currently own the MTM FOAM cannon. Love it. Unfortunately I dropped it full of product and cracked the bottle. The good thing is, it still works fine. I do like the MJJC also.

Thanks for the awesome video! I just bought the Groit cannon and it was leaking where the put sealant on the treads so I used some pipe tape and problem solved. It doesn’t have a very big fan pattern either. I’m still on the fence with it. I want to try the MJJC and see the difference

Great review. I definitely would and will choose the GG. 1) American R&D American company, 2) metering system even though not mentioned 3) higher quality parts. Most of all awesome customer service. I have their G9 &G8 polishers with lifetime warranty and I did have an issue with the G9 and they handled a quick no hassle replacement.

The Griot lays a really heavy foam layer using a 3000 psi washer and 2-3 oz of almost any car wash concentrate. Cannon kit provides one low pressure and one high pressure jet that screws into the manifold in front of the quick release nipple.

@@PanTheOrganizer The Tool Daily Foam Cannon. It was my own doing, I'm currently painting my house and to prep the walls on metal siding it's recommended to use a heavy duty cleaning agent called TSP so the primer will stick well. My pressure washer's built in low pressure suction wasn't working so I sacrificed my foam cannon to apply the cleaning agent onto my house walls. It worked great, and it still works great, but is full of corrosion from the cleaning agent. Using it I believe it is a huge risk of damaging my pickup and car's paint after running a highly corrosive cleaning agent through it! Hence why I'm in the market for a new one! Recently got a Griots Garage foam cannon and man I love it! I have a 1700psi 1.1gpm craftsman pressure washer from Lowes and use Adams car shampoo and it is still superrrrr thick! I love the set-up, upgraded the pressure washer hose, gun, and got quick connects for everything and I am very pleased with the results!

I have owned a "house brand" cannon from Auto Geek for about 14 years now, before they became popular and so many car care/wash sites popped up on KZfaq. It has worked flawlessly and cost less than $25 (I think it was actually 19.95USD). Only design issue is the container has a straight design which makes it difficult to stand upright, empty or filled. The side with the nozzle makes it tip to that side. I guess popularity breeds demand and consequently the price increases dramatically. Good review.

It comes with two different size orifices depending on how many cleaning units your pressure washer provides. The instructions are in the box. For most pressure washers, you keep the orifice that comes pre-insalled.

Hi Pan, I bought the MJJC Foam Cannon right after you did a similar review about one and a half years ago. I ‘m very happy with the build quality, wide base, large opening and have had no issues with the MJJC. I ‘m using CG’s Honeydew Foam Wash and add just a bit over the first mark at the bottom the container for thicker foam. I’ll try your ratio mix and see how that works. Always adjust the ratio according to your setup. You need to find what works best for your gear and water quality.

I love the Griot's Garage Brilliant Finish foam canon as it is very affordable and works great. Great controls, durable, and even comes with an adapter for gas powered pressure washers. However! My only gripe is the metal ball. Works absolutely well, but it rusts very quickly. After 4 uses, the ball rusted out! Even full cleaning and drying after use, it rusted inside the draw channel of the ball! I was quite sad. I haven't found a good replacement for the ball, so now I just draw straight from the straw, which if I don't keep the wand or gun level, I just squirt water when the soap level gets low. The MJJC foam canon has a metal ball as well, but it does not rust as quickly as Griot's did. But it is more costly. My choice for foam canons would be the Griot's Garage, but for long lasting ball, MJJC. Also, when you get the Griot's Garage Brilliant Finish foam canon, the fan is never straight (up and down). It's always on an angle or flat-sideways. Very annoying.

Thanks for the vid. I had cheap cannon from Ali, but it was only making milk, not foam. Now moved to MJJC and i have awesome results. Using old Kaercher K6.80
