I've noticed that many of the ball bearing assemblies on foam (and some wooden) nunchaku have changed over the years. In short, they have become cheaper in quality. The older ones used to be better built using thick robust swivels, large bearings, and a steel pin that held a nice thick chain. The ones he's holding in this video look like the higher quality ones so thumbs up! Now I see many, made in China ones, that use open ended washers to hold a much thinner chain. The bearing assembly is also less precision. The worst I have come across are budget ones, sold directly from China on eBay, that when received had swivels made of plastic and painted chrome to look like steel, and no bearings even though it was patterned after a ball bearing system. Be careful buying foam nunchaku from eBay and Amazon. Make sure you know what you're getting. Not all swivel chain assemblies are created equal. Try to get the nicer ones with large bearings, and heavy swivels that uses a steel pin to hold the chain to the assembly like the ones in this video. Buy it from a reputable martial arts supply store. There's one small company which has also recreated the old Dolan Sports "U-swivel chain" type hardware which have no bearings to wear out.

I noticed that too I used to look at these pictures growing up as my mom wouldn't let me buy one and I have noticed the ones they sell today that the quality is bad in the picture that im going to learn with the non metal one

Hola colega. Esos nunchakus son ideales para la práctica. Son demasiado livianos . Pero se soluciona recubriendolos con cinta aislante.

Dude, I have the same exact foam nunchuck you have, haha. Also, quick question: how were you able to spin the nunchucks around your shoulders fast? I thought you might have to swing the nunchuck faster, but it hurt my shoulders when the it lands on it. Can you help?
