Looking at this. I don't think I can get Stephan mild GCC I'll play around with glyceryl cocoate and xanthan gum and an anionic surfactant and see how that goes. Thank you so much for the inspiration

So clear and easy to understand. I can call myself a cosmetic scientist after this 😊🙌🏾 would this same formula work with walnut powder?
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! To call yourself a Cosmetic Chemist you will need to study our Diploma of Personal Care Formulation: personalcarescience.com.au/CosmeticScience/DiplomaofPersonalCareFormulation-479/ :) You would need to prepare a sample, the walnut powder is a different weight so it may not work - but make a sample to find out! Happy formulating.

hi great video! just want more explanation on the "low available water" scenario i heard with glycerine it doesn't need a preservative if used over 50% in a formula but when used in low quantities a preservative is needed, this is opposite to the "low available water" concept you've just explained so why is a preservative not needed in this situation but needed in the other? Thanks
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 3 жыл бұрын
When there is a really high input of sugar to water, it is also low available water - much like jam doesn’t need a preservative because of this concept also. This formula contains an even greater sugar:water ratio than jam so micro-organisms can’t grow because there is no ‘spare’ water to enable growth. It is bound by the sugar.

Thank you for this informative vedio I have a question does this sugar be fine particles and homogenate with other ingredients ?
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 3 жыл бұрын
Even if you use a finer sugar, there is insufficient water present to dissolve it so it remains as a scrub. The GCC helps hold it in suspension so it remains homogenous throughout the shelf life.

thank you Belinda for making such a fantastic video. Can this formula be made without water added, if yes how can we stabilize oil in the formula to not see the pile of oil separated in the scrub? I prefer not to add water because it goes a bit runny when we add water.
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401 Жыл бұрын
Hi Neda, Yes, you can make an oil based scrub (wouldn't be foaming). Would need to be a w/o build as you would need low HLB emulsifiers/waxes to stabilise.
