T J. I feel for them, I’m in northern Wisconsin and recently had the roof shoveled, 43”, keep getting snow also. At least they aren’t on eggs this time, but hopefully again ?

T J it’s fun knowing where people are from that watch these magnificent eagles. We go to Florida for a few months to get warm and sun.

Meanwhile here in NE Ohio snow belt we have had virtually no snow this year. Plow guy came 1x, for 3 inches.

I understand the sentiment but there are good reasons why it’s against the law to interfere with a protected species. The average person means well but often ends up hurting more than helping. So we just have to hope and pray things work out. There’s always next season. 😊

Yes, Shadow on R and Jackie on L. She is the one who tried melting the snow by laying down and moving around a bit.

No it’s actually not possible to tell when she’s ready to lay an egg. Looking “rounder and heavier” only occurs in pregnant mammals. Pregnant birds would be unable to fly due to weight gain, which is why they evolved into egg laying. It’s also why they have such lightweight bones. That’s a good thing…imagine if grizzly bears learned to fly, it would be a vastly more dangerous world. 😂😂

I don't know about eagles, but I know that if a female peregrine falcon is in the middle of an egg laying cycle and doesn't think it will be viable for whatever reason, she will lay it somewhere other than the nest where it won't be incubated and with no chance of development or hatching. This happened last year at a peregrine falcon nest I follow.

Jackie will lay eggs when it's time - snow or no snow. She usually sits in the bowl for extended periods of time before egg-laying. She does not appear to be too close just yet. 😊

I guess technically they could just dig out a space for her to lay in like when she's surrounded by the snow when it's snowing... but I have no idea if they want to/know to do that??? This is all very fascinating!

@@franciscajameshernandez7715 They have mated several times & their actions/activity would suggest that they are preparing for a second clutch, therefore, this can happen at any time... we're all just hoping that it is after this snowstorm is over when the weather becomes more suitable (if it even happens at all) 🙏🏼... obviously, we're all praying that it does for J & S! 💕💖💕

I was wondering if Laura C. was referring to the window that Jackie normally lays eggs or could lay eggs in order to get through the whole season to fledging "on time" whenever that is. I'm still wondering when that would be. I think it's considered pretty late now, but is it still in the realm of possibilities and, if so, when would it no longer be? The mysteries of eagle procreation. 🙂

Mine too! I live up near Lake Tahoe and my Maine Coon has been bored for a while now, despite being a long haired breed from New England she’s definitely not a lover of cold weather. We’ve had nonstop snow and rain almost everyday for the past 5 weeks, it’s insane! But it’s nice that she wants to cuddle all the time. ❤😊😻
