The dekoni sheepskin pads for focal headphones works perfectly well with the elegia. The bass gets more physical and powerful. Other areas in the frequency response isn't altered it sounds fabulous with those pads. I advice elegia owners to try those sheepskin pads.

I picked up the Dekoni Custom Series pads. Read that they help the bass and soundstage. I believe they are sheepskin. Hope they are the right choice. Just ordered my Elegia for $258, the pads, and a 4.4 balanced cable.

I got the dekoni stelia elite pads for mine and they're great. Unfortunately I had to replace my original pads because I had to wash them every couple months and eventually the glue started coming off from the attachment ring. I used these 40 hours a week for 2 years.

I got mine for $360 in like 2019 and used them for 40 hours a week for years. My skin is oily so I had to wash the pads alot. Eventually I bought the dekoni stelia sheepskin pads to not have to do that anymore. I still love them. I also run a custom cable, focal's cables are god awful but at least replacable. Kinda like my hot rodded "cheap" focals

I have these, playing through a Chord mojo, I think they're about worth the $200 i paid for them (they on super sale in Aus currently where I live). From my experience with the Elears I think the sound of these is also confused (though not nearly as 'odd' as the Elears were) and they definitely need EQ (though not an especially complex setting, just low and high shelf did it, with a slight extra bump at 3k) and they also do have an unnatural timbre overall, though like with the elears it sort of makes up/ masks qualities that are typical to dynamics and otherwise hard to describe. Some have said they are nasally or honky which honestly they kinda are, but for me it's very slight and the resolution and coherence makes up for it - not honky in the lack of detail like an ananda where everything sounds masked, but in the mid range grit or lack of end game, perhaps even glossed over at times peaks. I also think the soundstage incurs great separation, but I think it's a little excessive/ elaborate for my tastes - what's more when something's mono it sounds super mono, so bass can often reserved or muted. I would say i'd prefer open back, I am genuinely curious if these would just sound better with the cups removed, that said you'd likely have to bump the bass even more. Finally, the resolution is better than a $200--300 dynamic, and closes in on $1000 for planars, but it's definitely not on the same tier as anything above that, say a 2nd hand pair of LCD 2s or Aryas.

They are good headphones. The Focal drivers are very fast/clean for dynamics. I agree that the tuning is a little weird and could sound either great or strange depending on what frequencies are emphasized in a song. I did end up selling them however.

I picked these up a few weeks ago , open box, unused , at good price. These seem to be selling about £300 - 450. And I wanted a closed back full headphone. Cable is a bit awkward, makes its own mind up , stiff, won't go straight no matter what you do. Sound for me on these have Been good. Can still hear a few things around me at home but ok. I'm not going to use these outside , I have a cheap Anker Q30 for full size portable if required. It's a good idea to buy a headband protector quick. As the grey cover makes very easy. Apart from everything I would reccomend these and the Meze99 for closed back.

As a former Elegia user I did not find it as good as this video suggest. To me, it does not sound 500 dollars good out of the box and without EQ it was just awful and not enjoyable. Also, while the material feels premium, the headband has some plastic parts in it that are known for breaking, so it’s actually a sturdy and solid headphone in the looks, but still pretty delicate to manage. This is a problem with many Focal, btw. Going back to sound: the stock tuning is pretty wonky, it has a weak bass and spiky treble, while the mids got some weird stuff going on. A sub 200 dollars headphone like the akg K361/371 is going to be way better for tuning and timbre. Also I’m not a fan of EQ, and considering in the actual market there are now many headphones with great stock tuning, stuff that require EQ to sound good are a bit in a weird spot. Of course this is a subjective view as everything in this hobby, someone could love the elegia stock tuning and hate Sundara one (which to me is great). It’s just to me 500 dollars is way, way more than the Elegia is worth compared to other headphones in the 2022 market.

I don't disagree with you on the stock tuning. It is a bit odd, however with EQ they are VERY good.

You need to hook the Elegia's to a Graham Slee Bitzie or a Voyager - in fact all your headphones 😉

Describing the fuck they had new - the unbalanced between channels and the problem with the build you had to fix, means the France quality control is garbage, probably like their cars.

There’s no such thing as driver burn in but, there is such a thing as brain burn in. Your Brain after a while adjusts what you hear like an eq to adapt. If your drivers become looser then that’s a huge problem since there’s a reason why companies use things like beryllium to stiffen up diaphragms. Rtings did testing on burn in and concluded that the fr did not change at all after hours of burning different headphones in.

Driver burn is a thing, usually the materiel needs time to fully adjust to being pounded. He said himself some headphones it does NOTHING others it does wonders, also if your driver was stiff you wouldn't have any bass your mids would be muffled and the highs shrike. (common in 5$ gas station ear buds)
@autisticscreeches5688
@autisticscreeches5688 Жыл бұрын
@@666-devI did some research. The FR does not change in any way. Rtings did a 120hr burn in experiment with 4 different types of headphones (dynamic, planar, BA, and closed back). The results after 120hrs amounted to no change in measurable sound. At best burn in is just placebo or it’s your brain adjusting to the FR of the headphone after a while. Oh and there is a benefit for a stiffer diagram. Faster driver and lower resonant frequencies (specifically for beryllium).
