I agree with this message..so it seems when pastors jump right into a prayer, then who is given any time to take focus off self and get into the spirit and the presence of God. It happens so fast. Is it ineffective prayer? Even in small groups, I'm starting to wonder. Everyone just bows heads, and someone rattles off the prayers. Usually someone who is comfortable praying out loud. It all sounds so ineffective. 🤔

I'm so grateful to have heard this message about how to and how not to pray. I've been seeking God on the very subject. I feel my prayer has been answered, so now putting these steps into practice. Especially, when Mr. Lewis talked about being distracted when I pray. So now when I pray I must rebuke distractions. The other thing is I would pray a lot in bed, but no more. Now that I know better I will do better. Thank you Father for answering my prayer! Amen

No I don't agree with that at all. Many Saints struggled with distracted prayer. If anything, distracted prayer is more difficult yet we push through and refuse to let the enemy stop us. It's easy to pray when you're happy and focused... I'm sorry about your son and said a prayer for him. St. Maximilian Kolbe is the patron Saint of Addictions. You can ask him to pray for your son. God bless.

God hears our prayers, when we come to Him wholeheartedly. Praying for your son and Al Anon is an amazing organization for ones ones who have alcoholics in their lives

He definitely cares. I was an addict once too... A porn addict Ik it can't be compared to what your son is going through but it was the Lord who helped me overcome it. Continue praying for your son .. God is merciful and loving

i dont understand christianity... i do and i dont. i dont come from a believing family but i do... sometimes. i doubt a lot. my mind comes up with so many evil things to combat the truth of christ and the bible. i go to dark places. im tired of it. But, when it finally lifts and i again enter the realm of the Lord in my mind and through the bible I feel good again. i want to maximize the good things God can offer. Im not sure what to do next.

I have had the unholy spirit for as long as I possibly can, and now it's time the Holy Spirit is going to come and be my focus. It took so long to learn and believe that that's what it was , is why. I now know even if there is no good in me, God is always good.

This reference to the Word recalls the opening chapter of the book of Genesis, where God creates the world by the power of speech. The Word, or logos in Greek, is God’s power to create and order life. John goes on to say that “the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). To say that the Word became flesh means that the creative Word of God was embodied by Jesus of Nazareth, who was truly human. As the Word of God made flesh, Jesus carries out the creative and life-giving work of God. By his speech, actions, death, and resurrection, Jesus reveals the glory of God. Glory refers to God’s power and presence. Jesus reveals glory by miraculous actions, such as turning water into wine and raising Lazarus from the dead. He says praying in the flesh ,on earthly worries, is worthless! Surely this is not correct. I pray every day. If I have no worries I just pray for God's will in my life. If on any given dayI have worries (earthly fleshy worries!) I pray on them how can I not! I am only human! Don't let this sermon discourage you from prayer 🙏

I find hard praying sitting get stomach cramps so how does this fit in. I find it easier lying on my bed at night to meditaite . Sometimes my prayers are very powerful hot thats not correct. I do pray sitting as well makes no difference. Same experience.

I think we should use discernment. I don’t think Lewis stated anything like this. It seems to come from someone else speculations that don’t seem too biblical.
