As a 2013 ST3 owner with 72,000 miles on her I can definitely say these are great cars. I use nothing but synthetic oil and recently went to Mobil One. Everything still feels tight. No squeaks or rattles. Car averages about 26mpg City/Hwy. Everything still works. Its easy to see out of. I love the big mirrors that so many cars lack due to styling issues. I love the versatility of the hatch design. So many SUV owners don’t get that a proper hatch or wagon (very dirty words there) can do everything an SUV can do without the ponderous weight and gas mileage penalty. SUV’S are stupid.

I love my ST on a long trip. I go to San Diego kinda often and I live in Las Vegas, NV. I love the drive. I also went 2 weeks after I purchased my vehicle to Utah for the Ford Racing Performance weekend. I loved driving my vehicle because it was still new to me back in April, and I loved the drive as it was unstressful and I had great tunes to listen too and my nav took me to Utah very safely and smoothly. I love the long trips with my ST.

Took my ST on a road trip a few weeks ago, about 1600 round trip. After seeing/reading all the bad reviews about the seats, ride quality on long trips, I was nervous. I must say though, I was pleasently and thankfully surprised about how comfortable they were. They are a must on the sharp/twisty-turny roads and a pleasure to have on road trips!! Keep up the good work, hopefully you get 10k subs soon!

I agree...I have done trips from Ottawa Canada to Washington DC, and the leather Recaros in my ST gave me zero fatigue or discomfort. The fuel economy on the highway is quite spectacular as well, though in the city mine goes through fuel like a drunken sailor...

I used my '16 KB Focus ST2 as my work vehicle for a little under 3 years and it was awesome to drive/be in everyday, anywhere from 30-60 miles on my sales route. In an office position now so it sees about 16 miles a day. I'm at 46,200 miles and it never skipped a beat since I've owned it. If you're doing a lot more driving now, you shouldn't worry too much about reliability. You'll have a blast being in it longer!

In my 2018 ST3...I drove from Jacksonville, FL (Actually St. Augustine) to San Antonio, TX round trip. It was approximately 2k miles total. I averaged 31.5 miles on 93 Octane on the way there. I was by myself. On my way home from San Antonio, my wife and two kids rode home with me. I added a cargo carrier and my mpg dropped to 25.5 I was pleasantly surprised that it held above 25. The car handled great both ways. No one complained about their seats. (I'm 6'1" @ 240 wife and kids are all 5'5" tall. I think that info is beneficial to have.) No loss of power when accelerating when passing other cars.) Keep the vids coming... Great job!

I drove from Chicago to the east coast line of SC/NC. Over 1000 miles. I had 0 issues at all, it was surprisingly comfortable and didn't leave me aching. The gas mileage was great, only con was having a 10 gallon fuel tank.
@Gjeebs5 жыл бұрын
Yea it's 12.4 but I agree it's small. 14 gal would be perfect
@JDrach305 жыл бұрын
Yup, I just go based off my fuel light and how much put in, but agree for single person commuting and some moderate cargo space it's good.
@charlesjames14424 жыл бұрын
The tank is small to help with CAFE standards - less fuel weighs less and helps mileage by a smidge. I set the trip gauge at every fillup and when it gets to 100 miles to empty, I'm looking for gas. It's not a big problem in the east but west of Missouri, things thin out fast and gas stations are sparse. It would be nice if a bigger gas tank was an option or upgrade.

I just took a 2500 mile round trip from IN to CO in my stock 2014 ST and as far as fuel economy goes, I think 70-75 is the sweet spot for the best mpg. Most of the time I was doing 82 or so, and my mpg showed about 27-28 compared to your 30+. My full Recaro (ST3 trim) was comfy for me the whole way. My only issue was my left leg going to sleep occasionally. The driving did get old not because of the car, but just the distance. Overall it was a good experience. Edit: The high altitude in CO really hit my cars performance hard. Couldn't even build half my boost gauge at full throttle.

I am still running the stock tires at 39 psi The FOCUS ST is an excellent car to travel in especially with the fold down rears seats of the hatch back ! Jeebs The exhaust of your car sounds good very good . The noise is higher in this cabin , it is tight and you will hear it if I lowered the tire pressure to 31 psi

These Focus ST's are a perfect fit for all around driving Great price point for what you get. My Son just bought a 2017 ST2 401A original window sticker reads $29,330.00 The car is very clean with only 23,000 miles, was able to run all the info on history from the the factory oasis from Ford everything checked out perfect. 1 owner he paid $16,500 which i thought based on what was on the market the ST2 was very slim pickings compared to the base model felt like a great deal for this car. Very pleased with the purchase I'd say if you're after a fun car to drive this is one you should check out. Gjeebs thank you for all your time on these videos! Great info you've shared thanks, Dwight

Hey Gjeebs. I would agree that the ST is a great car for road trips. I think the Recaro sets are comfortable at the lest there no more uncomfortable then any other car when sitting in it for a long period of time. Every year my girlfriend and I drive 8hrs from our home town in Ontario to a small town in Quebec to watch the FIA world rally. Which is a awesome weekend. Not sure if your into that sort of thing. One thing I’m not sure about what you said in the video was about the sound symposium . I believe the ford calibration cancels out the sound symposium to the cabin that was one of the first thing I noticed when I got mine done. You get more of the real sounds from the car other then what is being sent into the car. It a quieter ride under normal driving I found. Or I just got really use to it. If I where you I would keep the car. I plane to keep mine for a long time more so now that there not going to be making it anymore. Keep on making the videos enjoy watching them. Thanks 👍🏻

Put 16k on my 2018 in the last year. On a trip, I can average 30mpg. Around town it is 24.5mpg, with highly spirited driving. My only complaint about the 2018 Focus is that they dropped the cruise resume paddle my 2014 Focus SE has. It is so annoying to look down to tap the resume, after passing.

Only have around 800 miles on my 2018 ST1. I enjoy it. I would like to drive it from the midwest over to the Carolinas and follow route 1 down to Key West sometime, maybe this summer. I would like a sunroof on it but I had to keep the cost low. I did have the other day not frost but moisture built up on the inside of the windshield. Has anyone else had this? I let the car run with the defrost on for a while and it cleared it up. Curious if this is a problem or a fluke.

Hey Gjeebs. I was wondering. I live in Vegas. When I drove my ST to California I noticed my oil temp (left gauge on center gauge console) when driving for long periods the needle is past have almost hitting the 3 quarter mark. I was trying to see in yours but couldn't tell. Did you notice your temps on that going past half way? Or is that just mine?
@damonj38715 жыл бұрын
Exactly half way is not a huge deal; it is a little hot, but nothing to be to concerned about, especially if you have been driving the car hard. 3/4 of the way up however is NOT GOOD! If that continues to happen, you will want to look into it immediately. It is most likely a loose charge pipe, but it could be the intercooler shutters. Make sure they are open. I have seen peoples shutters stay closed (Especially on a custom tune) which restricts airflow to the intercooler. If they are shut, after you get them back open, you should notice the oil temp go down quite a bit...
@CorboliciousTv5 жыл бұрын
@@damonj3871 hey thanks for answering this. I have a couple questions on the topic. So we did a long drive in December. So obviously it was much cooler. The oil temp barely hit half way. But when I had wrote the question originally it was about 100⁰ when we were driving. It wasn't quite 3/4 it was in between 1/2 and 3/4. So is that still a concern or just because it was so hot when we drove? Thank you again for any input.
@damonj38715 жыл бұрын
CorboliciousTv hmm, Well it could be that it was just really hot outside...That will cause your oil temp to go up a bit more than normal. If its a smidge past halfway on the gauge on a hot day, I wouldn't be too worried; just keep an eye on it, and be sure to let it cool in between pulls or after you drive it hard. Now, if you notice the levels are past 2/3 of the way up the gauge and its like 60-70 degrees out, take the car to a ford dealership to get it looked at. Like i said, it will most likely be the shutters or a charge pipe, but you don't wanna keep driving it with super hot oil...
@CorboliciousTv5 жыл бұрын
@@damonj3871 awesome man. Thank you for everything. One last thing when it did get hot I wasn't driving it hard per say. Not racing anyways. Was just cruising to California at about 80.

The ST1 seats are definitely more comfortable for daily driving. There are two issues w/ the ST1 seats: First of all, it's the color. Why Ford decided to make the ST1 seats two-tone grey is beyond me. The ST1 seats should be black cloth, not grey. Also they should be leather because it's more comfortable & cleans up much easier. The high bolstered ST3/RS seats are difficult on long rides because it's hard to move your legs & to stretch out a little bit.

Get the civic si. You can do the same amount of mods you have on this car to that. The only concern I have for you is that there is no exhaust that’s gonna get the sound like your st. I averaged 45 mpg on a 2000 mile round trip, even got 50-51 mpg on a couple tanks on my 2017 civic ext.
