This downpipe opens up the exhaust by replacing the restrictive stock downpipe on your 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 or 2018 Focus ST. Higher horsepower numbers are accompanied by a much more aggressive sound. MBRP downpipes are precision tuned to deliver all the power your 2.0L EcoBoost has to offer. Pair the downpipe with an MBRP cat-back for the ultimate sound and performance.
Remember this is does not have a catalytic converter so it is for off-road use only!

So I just got a catless downpipe. For some reason it looks bigger than the factory pipe (aftermarket is 3in) is that normal? I’d assume the piping is bigger but flange size is the same?

1.5 insall on a good day. we were almost 3 hrs deep to install. totally worth it tho haha

Did you have trouble with the V-band clamp? That can make it difficult sometimes.

exactly. that was a son of a bitch. that plus taking part of the injen exhaust off for room and tracing the o2 sensors extended the time frame. also weapon makes a elbow that goes on the "post cat" o2 inlet to trick the computer into having a cat. so far no engine lights. it will be tuned later on.

Hey Bill, I have a 2015 Focus St and I just bought the flowmaster exhaust through spool tuning. I was considering getting a downpipe as well but I didn't know if it would have problems bolting up to the flowmaster system since it is a 2.25" exhaust and a 3" downpipe

Didnt you say you have a borla exhaust on this car if so how does that work since the exhaust is 2.5 inchs and the down pipe is 3??????????

@Bill Tumas I just bought my ford focus ST 2014 used and it had an exhaust system on it that rattled to all hell but i fixed that too a little bit of cutting of one the hangers. I lifted the car up today and saw that i did not have an OEM down pipe, my question is how would i determine if it was a off road pipe or a catted down pipe. this also may seem like a dumb question but you would help me out a lot. love your channel btw.

+aaron cruz An off road pipe would be the same diameter from top to bottom, a catted pipe would have a larger section of pipe where the cat was located.

Hey Bill, so I got my MBRP catless dp installed and now when I start moving i have a horrible rattle when I'm about to pull out the clutch completely. It only happens when I'm going uphill from a stop. I already cut the hangars shorter so they dont hit my cross member. You think it's because of the DP exhaust hangar bracket? Maybe it's hitting the support brace? It's driving me crazy. I wonder if a rmm would solve it the motor doesn't move as much.

+OneWhoGames Yes the rmm is the culprit. Cobb makes a very nice replacement, some others too. major difference, no more wheel hop no more firewall wacks.

I know that you will need to tune it after you do this but what would be the best way to do that? Something as simple as the Cobb AP or should you take it to a shop that can tune it?

We have been running one of the Cobb maps without issue on our ST with the off road downpipe. Aftermarket tuners like Panda and Freektune have excellent custom maps as well.

I have the ford calibration done to my st. Will the engine light still come on ? Or do I need a aftermarket tune in order to do this upgrade?

You’ll probably want to buy an aftermarket tune. I’d go with a Stratified flash tune. Pretty affordable tune. Has many options as well like if you’d like pops and crackles. And the tune disregards the o2 sensor light

Bill, I'm considering getting a catless downpipe but my concern is that I don't want to void the factory warranty. I know that a dealership has to "PROVE" that the aftermarket parts were the cause of any problem that may arise (unlikely) but I'm wondering if a dealership could do a basic tune and keep warranty in tact. Any advice?

There will be tuning kits from Mountune available at some point which will not affect your warranty in anyway since they are teamed up with Ford Racing.

hello I have a problem with my Focus St 2014 with only 24,000 miles change down pipe and catback the checkengine turned me on with the code p0420 I changed the 2 oxygen sensor the e handled and still does not want to read the sensors have any idea that it could be Thank you

If you go with a highflow downpipe you probably need a custom tune because of the efficiency of the cat.

Sounds like you do not have it bolted down tight to the factory bracket. If that is tight it really shouldn't move hardly at all.

+Omar Encinas The sedan doesn't need a downpipe because it doesn't have a turbo.

The sedan which I have has to have the exhaust manifold and downpipe replace cause it's all in one. And they don't really make a performance one. Best would be to get a performance chip and some hks performance spark plugs which will get you about 10 more hp just from the plugs.

Check and make sure you 02 sensors are fully plugged in.

So I bought the access port yesterday didn’t fix it but the guy at the shop told me to take the down pipe off for right now and wait till I have a full cold air intake and exhaust before putting the pipe back on

I really wish you had a stock exhaust on that st to hear the difference since the aftermarket exhaust sounded the same, even after you installed the DP.

CJ Pony Parts I think he meant he'd like to know how the off-road downpipe sounds on the stock exhaust. I would too, since the catback doesn't affect power as much, changing it would be for sound only. If the downpipe sounds good with the stock exhaust, might as well leave the rest stock.

My45ToYourThroat It is a speed density system so the car will not typically trip any lights with a catless pipe, it will however run on the rich side so we suggest a proper tune when running catless.

+Joe Gotti Do some research, but I think the way the firewall on the Fusions differ from the design of the Focus' firewall. It will bolt on but the possibility of it fitting are fairly low. The 2.0l Turbo engines are the same in the Fusion's Focus'. Best bet is buy one but know an ST guy you can pawn it off on if you can't get it to fit.

No I would not recommend doing that. I know this was 4 years ago so idk if you’ve done it already but you may have an issue with boost creep which is the turbo over boosting cause there is no cat to hold it back. You will blow your car up if you run a catless downpipe without a proper tune for it. If it was catted then you wouldn’t have a problem.

The heatshield is for the catalytic converter, since its being removed it is really not necessary. You could wrap it if you wanted to but I don't feel it is necessary.

These can be tricky to get to, many times I have to use two hands to get to them. Remove the foam cover and you can usually get two hands on there. There is a push button connector you can get one finger on and then pull the connector out with the other hand.

We will be using the Cobb tune but will be following up with a full custom tune in the near future. We will also be putting the car on a dynojet for the custom tune so our customers can easily compare our numbers to what others are posting since many people are not using a Mustang dyno.

It depends on where you live, and what your emissions equipment requirements are. Definitely not in California. It'd be legal anywhere without emissions inspections or CARB compliance laws, simply because there's no law that states you should have the cat.

TJvigilante This is incorrect. Federal EPA emissions laws state a person shall not knowingly remove any Factory installed emissions control devices from a motor vehicle(other than for maintenance) that shall be operated on public roads. Hence why there are parts labeled "Off Road". It's not enforced however like you mentioned in areas were no regular inspections are required,

SternLX Is correct. There are very minor things you CAN (not will, but can) get away with so long as it doesn't give itself away when they use the sniffer or do a visual inspection. In the Focus STs case you are exempt from emissions testing for 2 years anyway, so it will give you time to save up and get a catted downpipe as well to swap for emissions purposes. But, yes it is still illegal and if found out you can be fined up to $25,000 under the Clean Air Act for removing an emissions device.

If you are replacing the down pipe with a custom cat on it it will pass the sniff test with flying colors . It just would not pass the visual check . Assholes if it is just as clean why not just OK it !?
