This is the nicest sounding Focusrite Scarlett audio interface I've tested so far. To my ears, the pre-amp sounded sweeter than the pre-amps on Komplete Audio 6, Presonus Audiobox and Zoom H6 - a few of which I use a lot.

What's to hate about the Scarlett? I've not mentioned the software & plugins that come bundled with the device, which is a nice welcome, but expect to take some time setting them up (with validation processes, and more).
The buttons on the Scarlett was really modern, but I find it a little too easy to accidentally push them.
Headphone out was quite standard, but don't expect to go really loud with them (it's going to be a headache, pairing headphones with an impedance of more than 200 ohms with the Scarlett Solo on bus power.)

I learn alot thank you. Simple and straight to the point of the important stuff unlike other youtubers who waste our time talking about the same thing for 5 minutes. Other youtubers makes their video review last 10-20 minutes about these type of items, so Good work for you for making it short and easy to learn, love the video.

This is the most thorough, easy to follow tutorial I have seen on KZfaq for audio tech. I’m a music student from the US and I already own this scarlet audio interface, but I wanted to make sure I was using it at it’s full potential. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Subscribing!

Great video. I have a question related to the 2i2 that I hope you know the answer to: Can you use the Air function with the direct instrument input on the 2i2, or does it only work when recording with microphones? As you say in the video that is definitely the case with the Solo, but since the inputs on the 2i2 work both as XLR and 1/4" jacks, I was wondering whether the Air mode affects the recording of instruments via the direct input. I can't seem to find a clear answer to this. Thanks.

Hi Reuben. Great intro video. A question for you… just got the Scarlet 2i2. I am getting Audio renderer error. Please restart your computer message. I am trying to use my computer speakers + don’t have the right size output jack yet for the headphones. Can I use my computer speakers in the meantime or do I have to have the headphones plugged into Focusrite? Thanks.

I have a couple questions for the instrument side of the interface: under the gain knob, there's a button that says "INST" -- what does that mean and what does it do? Also, what do the "Direct Monitor" button and monitor knob do?

Towards the end of your video you mention that you can record on either side of the Solo, so if you want to add a preamp, can you plug in your mic on the “INST” on the Solo with a TRS instead on the XLR? And also I’ve noticed you didn’t press the green button on the far right to turn it on. Can you please clarify this? Thanks a lot!

What XLR cable did you connect to it? The one that came with my microphone has a small hole to connect to a latch inside the socket. I almost broke the interface socket trying to remove the cable!

Great review. Many thanks. A question. The two outputs are L and R. Does that mean the microphone is the L output, and the instrument line in is the R? Or are both lines in blended into a single combined channel and split left and right. I want to be sure I can separate the inputs into distinct channels, for example in a DAW.

The outputs are usually for speakers that you plug in to the interface to maximize audio quality. The left and right is normally because you have two speakers and want to hear whats coming out of each one because most of the time they aren't the same.

im trying to set uo my at2020 to fl studio and i changed my speakers on my desktop to usb focusrite and do the same in fl studio and my interface doesnt pick up any vocals, how do i fix this? my xlr cable is brand new, the light doesnt flash over my line but it does on my instrument and yes i have the phantom power on
