In addition to what the band have said about this kind of string band music, I would add that the tunes are just so excellent, and the harmonies which are usually found in them, beautiful...how can the heart not respond, regardless of the time that's past?

Interesting discussion about why folk music is so perennially popular. I think it’s like beautiful antique folk era furniture from 200 years ago - it might be out of fashion but it’s still classic. In regard to music, I thought that Bill Monroe was largely responsible for igniting the particular American version of folk music - along with the old time giants like the Carter family and Earl Scruggs. I remember the time Bill Monroe tipped his hat to me... he was playing a gig at my university and I was there hours early, before the sound check. I didn’t know who the guy in the big white hat even was. It was only later I found out it was Bill Monroe. But frankly, I think Foghorn can hold it’s own with the Bluegrass Mountain Boys. Foghorn is the Beatles of Bluegrass...
