Exciting future ahead. Balogun, Pepi, Sargent is quality depth at the 9. We can even run a two striker formation with Balo and Pepi if we choose.
@CognizantCheddar11 ай бұрын
Two strikers may be the only way to play him, because at 5'10" he's not a logical 9. A 4-4-2 would mean benching a talented midfielder, however. Assuming Adams, Pulisic, and McKennie are locks, then of Musah, Reyna, Aaronson, and Weah, three would have to be benched. Alternatively, bench Pepi, play Pulisic beside Balogun, making room for another of those mids. But that poses the problem of having no height and strength on the forward line at all.
@chap567411 ай бұрын
@@CognizantCheddar5”10 is not a bad size for a striker at all segio aguero was 5”9 and so was wayne rooney if he can score goals it dont matter
@CognizantCheddar11 ай бұрын
@@chap5674 Neither of them were classic 9s. Rooney played half his career as a CAM. Argentina has long struggled to produce true 9s, but they make up for it by producing world-class midfielders every generation. The USMNT needs a true 9. A tall, strong forward that can do hold-up play in the attacking-third, and to provide the wingers and fullbacks a true target man in the box. It's what the squad critically lacked in Qatar. The midfield can't play like Argentina / Man City to feed a midget forward like Aguero with short passing.

@@aronszoke8942 As I said, international play is more physical than club play. I should also point out that Balogun on his club tape habitually drifts to the left wing to receive the ball. So he's already not playing like a true target 9.

There are a lot of English players in the US team now - Balogun, Musah, Carter-Vickers and Robinson.
@marcgonzales55611 ай бұрын
Musah was born in the United states just like Balogun. Both of their parents are African. Carter-vickers was born in England but grew up all over as his father is an American basketball player. Best decision and an easy decision. He can wait 4 years to fight to be 3rd or 4th with England or play right now and compete to be the number one forward for the US playing all home matches in the coming World Cup. He'll also win several trophies with the US versus being a runner up, if lucky, with England. He'll have more celebrity, more opportunities to promote his brand, more exposure, better sponsorship deals, and he'll become a legend for the US if he plays well. He would have none of those things riding the bench in England. 🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸
