This is a film clip of two females assembling, unfolding a three (3) wheel electric car. The car can be fashioned as either a convertible with side doors or as a front entrance car with full cover for the passenger compartment. The car can be folded up for storage. Presumable it is an all electric drive vehicle for ease of maintenance and to eliminate the the issue of cranking the start motor of the combustion engine of the day. Anyone know more about this vehicle, please send me a message or comment with what you know.
Another electric car similar to this has 4 wheels, is all electric, with a front entrance door. Jay Leno has one. It is called the Baker Electric.

In all honesty, I would love a car like that.

Reminds me how my father is fond of pointing at the screen when an old movie comes on and saying, "That's a dead dog", "That's a dead horse", &c. And yes, most likely every person (and every car) in that film is long dead. And before that, those cuties in the film turned into shriveled up old ladies.

Something I learned from my Grandfather, who was reminiscing about the first car he ever saw. It belonged to his uncle, who was the richest man in town. I was shocked to learn that what he remembered most about it was "putting it up" for the winter. Cars weren't reliable in bad weather, less so in cold weather. So you drained the radiator fluid and gasoline, and put it up on blocks until it warmed up. Horse & buggy were more reliable. At least until Ford came along.

This was filmed in Brockley, South-east London and the intertitle suggests this is a one-off home-made vehicle, though it carries a road tax disc.

Only reason they don't make cars like that now is they wouldn't pass a crash test. Interesting concept, killed by legislation.

@Cyfer135 very complicated but the bottom line is if you can't make money you can't get investors and without investors you have no means to mass produce (and the oul companys are some of the largest investors in the automotive industry) (proof of this is the fact that tesla had a concept to run the world entirely on wireless energy where the whole world could live off the grid by putting up an antena in thier yard or on their car but it never happened because there was no money in it)

@PAVONEZORZ maybe the reason is that the don't use the car that often and in folded state it allows them to more compactly store it in place in the city at lower cost and more conveniently?

The folding gimmick probably should've been done away with. That is insanely impractical.

I notice that the license plate of the second vehicle says "PM1931". I wonder if that may be indicating the year of manufacture. I wonder if the first and second are the same vehicle or different vehicles. And if different vehicles, are they of the same manufacturer.

I wouldn't want to be riding in that car if it were hit by a Hummer, but I think that is less of a rebuke to the three-wheeler than to the multi-ton lummoxmobile.

@sharpezor that would be fun to see. the story could include some eccentric inventor that was making these transformers.. and how he had a secret project he was working on. And some transportation historian discovered some personal writings that the inventor had written of it. perhaps a kind of thinking robot transformer car buried deap within the caves of the US Air Forces warehouses of secret technology. And robot only needed one thing to come alive. And this Indiana Jones type historian...

If you like folding electric cars, che out the Wike aka "Wicycle". It's even smaller and lighter than this one. and in the video you can see it pulling a micro bicycle trailer as well.

@Cyfer135 Oil (gas) was extremely cheap, was more reliable than electric, and didn't have to be recharged. Now that the price of oil has gone up, car designers have had to relearn a lot about electric cars, and improve the design to make them more practical for modern use.

Mostly Power to weight ratio: Lead Acid batteries are horrible at this. Lithium Ion has solved this for the most part. With the coming of graphene batteries, it will be practically solved. Also, the charging was slow. Now its only getting faster.
