❖ For the #OneWeek100People Urban Sketching Challenge, I share with you my technique for people sketching and my tips to get the body shape, the silhouette, the figure right. First, I explain what is important for silhouette figure drawing demonstrating by drawing with a pen : body features, walking posture, sketching strategies and mindset…. This was an outstanding demo!!!! You discussed MANY things that I needed to hear such as negative as well as positive drawing/painting, skin, tone, general body shape and gesture, dropping color in on the figures were just a few of the 20 tips given! Merci, merci for taking time to share such valuable information!!!!! Going to go practice now and finish the #100people one week challenge. I especially enjoyed the use of random swipes of paint as the basis for figures. I found this to be extremely useful in depicting a group of people. In the past I've gotten mired down in showing each individual in the group. I will try to use this approach to suggest a troupe of dancers. Merci!

Brilliant video, this is pure gold, just what I needed. Have struggled for years with adding figures to watercolour sketches and usually chicken out for fear of ruining it. Have been watching this video over and over while trying to improve my stick men - "Lowery would be so proud" - So "One week 100 people" ...I'm up for the challenge!

I just happened to stumble over your video. I have watched a lot of these how to paint people videos but yours just stands out. Your enthusiasm and your personality really made it a delight to watch. Sketching people is one of my favorite things! Especially in watercolor while I’m out doing something at the diner or a cafe or whatever. I usually end up sketching portraits rather than figures and silhouettes so this is super cool! I love little blobby people shapes in a crowd. =>.

This is an awesome video! You have made drawing people to put in our pictures feasible....another project for me to work on! After watching you, I realize that I make my heads a little too big and my torso too short. And, I put in too much detail. Your Enthusiasm shows that you're very passionate about your work! I have subscribed to your Channel for this reason! I have been following a number of other watercolor painters like Umberto Rossini, Tim Wilmot and Alvaro Castgnet. With Alvaro being the best!!!!! I will try doing the 100 figures a week. I love your style of teaching such a difficult subject. I cannot wait to learn more from you. I would like to mention that whenever you're doing a painting or sketch please don't speed it up and play music, I would much prefer to hear your commentary than to hear the music. Thankyou! I used to be very good a rapid gesture drawings..they are fun if you can let your hand go..I think the first 20-100 drawings are about letting the hand move freely so don't judge them..I haven't tried with watercolor... can't wait to try :)

Hi Sweet Street, yeah that's a real problem that our expectations are usually too high and we discourage ourselves that way... 🤔 Practice is for practice !! 😅 I hope you will try with watercolor for real! Did you?! That's really different, even from a brush pen, because of the juicyness but so enjoyable. ☺️
