Great information here! I would definitely go down a rabbit hole for hours on these especially since I keep seeing some of these sites as ads.

@@happygilder Absolutely, thanks again for a thorough and insightful video, it is very helpful for my art style. Great to run across a true artisan, your work is amazing. Out of my league working with mirror or glass lol, so I will stick with canvas & digital.

Regarding the license, is it for one time use? What is the purpose for multiple? Thanks and cheers for sharing your knowledge!
@happygilder
@happygilder Жыл бұрын
The Kittl license is a subscription (monthly or annually). I imagine you'd buy a license for multiple subscriptions if it was a business where more than 1 person would use it.

Hello Paul. Chris here. Greetings from Germany. My question is a bit off-topic. I have some problems with glue chipping here. I think the reason is my blasting material. I use corundum with 0,1 - 0,4 mm. As far as I know you use aluminum oxide. Can you tell us more about this ? What grit size and how long you use it before you replace it. Is corundum ok and I just don't blast long enough ? Wrong glass ? Keep up the good work and take care
@happygilder
@happygilder 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, I use 120 grit aluminium oxide and only ever use plate (float) glass. Toughened glass won’t chip because it’s too strong. I’ve never used corundum but if you ask on the Facebook group I’m sure someone will know if it’s ok to use

Great information, thank you. Any tips for someone just wanting to make 1-3 images? I have a logo I made for a side business I am working on, but it was made manually in Inkscape but I really want to use stuff from the sites you mentioned (simple logo for profile pics, maybe more elaborate for website or signage, and maybe one bigger poster-like image). BUT I don't have Adobe and am not looking to pay some annual fee for something I won't use often or at all. I have no problem paying for the fonts and stuff I use, I just don't want a regularly occurring fee to get it. I have thought about paying someone to make what I want, but I think it would be fun (and cheaper) for me to try out a bunch of different options. Any thoughts would be awesome, thanks!

Thanks Adam, I'm glad you found it useful! My advice would be to use Kittl. It's free if you only want to make small logos. You can download them as 800px x 800px jpegs without a paid subscription. You can also choose to subscribe for 1 month rather than a year and it's very reasonably priced. You can then download the files as vectors rather than small jpegs. There's a link in the video description. I'd start with the free subscription just so you can get used to it and have a play around

@@happygilder Thanks! I wasn't sure with the pricing mention on licenses if you were not able to use the images you made through them unless you had a current subscription through them. I see Heritage Fonts advertised everywhere, so while looking into that I found people commenting (and I think comments from Heritage Fonts) limits on usage of their fonts; like for example, you may not be able to make something with their font package and plaster it all over the city or sell the things you made through their product. So from that, I was hesitant to try it (that and not having Illustrator). I'll try the Kittl route, like you mentioned. The free price to play around with it and a month to get the real images nailed down sounds like a pretty good plan. Thanks for the help!
