My vision is to start this mini-series with an empty house tour and finish it with a minimalist house tour when we're all settled in. Since we just moved from Hawaii to California and into a new home. it's the perfect time to talk about shopping, decorating, DIY-ing and making a cozy home in a minimalist way.
If you're new here, welcome! I'm Madi, creating videos about minimalism and slow living every Wednesday. In my videos you will see my minimalist home, my capsule wardrobe, decluttering, inspiration for slow living with kids, intentional living, minimalist finances, things I no longer buy, things I no longer own, things I buy more of as a minimalist, and just overall my passion and inspiration for simple living!
Thank you so much for subscribing and supporting my work by watching my videos.

I recently decluttered my pantry, and I no longer feel GUILT every time I open my pantry door. It feels so good to know we are eating what we have, and that’s enough. I totally resonate with the “fantasy self.” I LOVE to cook and bake. We save lots of money only going out once or twice a month.

It makes perfect sense that a cluttered pantry and fridge dampens desire to cook. I've been in a cooking rut lately and I bet I could jumpstart it by doing a thorough clean and declutter!

Loved this Madi and really love your longer videos. I always play them while I’m doing breakfast clean up! I was recently talking to a friend who lives in Britain and they also have been hit with inflation prices/food shortages. I asked her what she stocks up on and she started to laugh. “We don’t stock up. We just eat what we have and get more when we need it and if we don’t have it we adjust.” It made me think really hard about food security and how it can overtake our pantries and if we don’t consume and just hoard we end up having to throw it out as I’ve painfully experienced before. Thank you for showing us what perhaps, in my opinion, is a more “normal” looking pantry/fridge. One that doesn’t look curated in fear but present moment needs. Wow.

Starting with food clutter on your journey to minimalism is such a good tip. And, thanks for calling this out...Yes, as responsible as we are, sometimes we need to throw things out & it's ok! I love how you incorporated self-acceptance into a food declutter video. Remarkable & so true. I'd love to learn more about your diet & go-to recipes. I am so intimidated by smoothies, soups & sourdough starters!

Love this, of course, love ALL your videos😊 I’m learning about slow living, through you. And I want to learn more about slow food, especially for my kids. I don’t want them to eat processed foods. It would be really cool if you could do a video on maybe staple meals and snack that you do for your family!

This was so informative and inspiring! The cost of food and restaurant increases has made my hubs and I more aware of wastefulness and trying to eat well. We are growing gardens in 3 places, and looking forward to sharing, trading, and blessing others with the yields. Hope they like tomatoes! I'm encouraged by you to spend some time making a meal plan and seeing what we have to make SLOW food going forward.

I recently just made my first ever batch of homemade biscuits and it was way easier than I ever thought it would be! I also cleaned out my spice cabinet and organized it and I feel so much better about it. I have a few things that didn’t fit in my new spice rack that I’m trying to find a home for but the amount of duplicates I had 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’m so happy I did it. I have plans to clean my food cabinet next! I also love giving my 2 year old whole foods, his favorite snacks are blueberries, raspberries and cherry tomatoes. I want to try fresh green beans with him and I’m always looking for new foods for him to try for snack time. You mentioned slow foods and the first thing my mind went to was how I’m always looking for quick dinners to make, 30 min or less, instant pot dinners. And sometimes I think it’s because I want to spend more time with my son but I’m also thinking he likes being in the kitchen with me, and I definitely have time to spend making dinner a bit more from scratch and making it more healthy and giving my son the opportunity to learn and cook and spend in the kitchen with me.

I love all of this- I feel like we have so much in common! Ok about the “slow food” thing though, sorry I confused you, you definitely don’t have to spend lots of time cooking every night 😂 I certainly don’t! Sometimes I do, but most of the time I don’t because slow food is about savoring the food and the process and the people around you, no obligation to make food slowly. Restaurant food can be slow food too! Love your decluttering process and your priority to spend time with your son and feed him well! You’re doing a great job, give yourself some grace though too, to not have to do it perfect. ❤️

Love this video! Thank you for giving me permission to throw away the not quite spoiled food that lives in my kitchen-- way past fresh enough to want to eat it, but still leaving me feeling guilty to throw it away! One question though.. you mentioned ground up oats for oat milk. Do you have a recipe for that? I was curious what you do with them because the recipes I've seen use rolled oats. Thanks!!

Hey Stephanie, I just tend to not really worry too much, I do have some bulk dry products that I know we could make it work with for a week but also know we could work together with our community of friends / family and neighbors if that issue did arise. Good point. Something to consider. I think following your own intuition is important.
