Italian food in Italy is vastly removed from Americanized Italian cuisine. Oh my. Before I ventured to Italy I did some food research. Because dishes are regional there. As in, you can get cacio y pepe pasta in Rome only. It’s a delicious pasta with cheese and black pepper. That’s it. Italian food is fairly simple and unpretentious. Fresh ingredients like San Marzano tomatoes and frutte di mare enhances the flavors. Italy won’t give you a spoon for noodle twirling. No garlic bread. Just those thin crispy ones. No Italian dressing of course. They rarely combine meat with pasta. Because those are two separate courses for Italians. They have a cappuccino and pastry for breakfast. Siesta in the afternoon. Then emerge for their 7 course dinner in the evening. Mangia! 🤌🏼
