This living documentary (version #7) is the final cut which followed a community event over several months as an army of gourmet food trucks have invaded their quaint town of Granada Hills in Los Angeles County. Every Wednesday & Friday evenings people swarm to Chatsworth Street to taste many different varieties of cuisines. Local business's have no power trying to keep them away and the parking issues have become at times volatile. The community has come out in droves to support and enjoy the largest non-organized gourmet food truck event in the nation! Watch 5 years later! • Grubfest-Five Years In...
Watch 7 years later! • Grubfest Events 7 year...

I loved how the old lady thought that the food trucks were a fad. Best part of the show was the end when the bakery guy realized that he had to actually step up his game to keep his business. Whether it's a brick and mortar business or a rolling business, if your food isn't good and someone better shows up, you're screwed.

Interesting how this community (Granada Hills) is dealing with this influx of new energy and people...and competition. It's pretty easy to see which shop and truck owners will be there for the long haul. Video is high quality, much appreciated.

This is a very good documentary. You should go back this year and see what's happening to do a follow up documentary. I am very interested in knowing if the food trucks still frequent Granada Hills.

Okay, for all those who don't know, most of the preparation of the food on these trucks is done in a kitchen at another location. They make all the stuff they need in the early hours in the morning and then serve it all day long like any other restaurant. They don't pay as much as restaurants do, granted, but they do pay money for the space the kitchen is in. They also need all of the same legal documents a regular restaurant has, plus, the location of the kitchen has to have all of those legal documents as well but most of the time, since food trucks only need the prep kitchen location for a few hours each day, they rent the kitchen hourly so they can save on the costs. The people who say these guys don't have to pay for the property are wrong, they do, just not the property they sell from, they pay for the property they prep in.

That was an excellent production, it not only showed both sides of the story, it showed the nuisances of all of the factions eg: street cleaners, tax revenue, bathroom demands, etc ... IMO, the best solution is to cut off traffic thru traffic for those critical hours for those days so that is is more like a street mall and street fair, in this way safety is preserved, parking is abundant, and you have more room for more people to enjoy themselves. Btw, we are a crowd funding site that would love to help people get business, including food trucks, but also to organize major events such as this all over the country.

That Anni Bakery guy blames the food trucks for his shitty business, but he can't be any wronger. His bakery looks outdated, the menus look ghetto. I'd never want to go in there myself. If his bakery was replaced by a Starbucks, you think it's going to have slow business? Nah, don't think so.

The concept of selling on the streets is a lot cheaper than buying a good space to build a business. Not too many people can afford a mortgage or a bank loan for a restaurant but for a truck it's reachable its a life saver for ordinary people who want to make a living and be a productive individual, it's better than turning to crime. Those who oppose the food truck are selfish and just don't want others having a chance to put food on their table and pay for their bills. Bottom line is if it benefits more people then it's not a bad thing business owners are gonna have to accept it and get along.

Business owners should also go mobile, so they can compete, Close your location, stop paying rent and or property tax, stop paying for utility, Fire and put most of your waiters and busboys and maitreD, and kitchen personal on the street, & buy a truck. Then next time when a citizen wants to go out for a meal let them get it from a window on 4 wheels.

Jason Vu. So what your saying is someone has lower overhead you should make it tougher. that's the problem with this country now a days. These people paid $50,000+ for trucks. How about the people with brick and mortar get a food truck? Makes me sick the regulation generation.

In my opinion on brick and mortar having a problem is food trucks serving near them. Other then public safety concerns I think boo hoo. 2 days of the week is pretty reasonable, if the people won’t come to your restaurant any more then maybe the food truck is bringing that business in not you to begin with. If you want to go sit down you go to a sit down restaurant if not food truck is a great option. In my opinion people are going to go where better food is. If new food trucks serving good food takes some of your customers, maybe up the game and start serving some better food. Like honestly don’t care if your family served food there for generations. Get better or find something else to do. Making money serving food isn’t a given.

It's not fair for the business owners. The government should have certain days when the trucks can come so buisnesses have oppurtunities to have a proft. Plus there would be more people on that street since they're only there for a certain amount of days. People won't take advantage of everyday they'r are there. Either find them on social media if your craving their food or just wait till they open back on that street.

food truck should paid a fee to stay in those parking space, life is not free so paid up. Those other food store have to paid rent, so why does the food truck dont have to.. That the only way to make everything right.

So if a Starbucks opened up across the street from a mom and pop coffee shop, should Starbucks pay the mom and pop shop, because they're competing?
@jtvprodesign

That Starbuck would pay their own rent, and not live like free loader. These food truck are like the bottom feeder, always trying to get away with the law. Be decent, and a least pay the city for the space they park in. I do love food truck, and do feel it is great competition for restaurant, but each side should be equal and pay for their space.
@jimmylai7969
@jimmylai7969 9 жыл бұрын
Jason Vu - They're public parking spaces, which the city pays for, which taxes pay for. They're also paying taxes, so they're not freeloading. If I rent my apartment and have to park on the street, I don't have to pay taxes to park on the street. Same concept buddy. I don't know if you understand English and watched the video, but they are not breaking the law.
