this is a criminally underrated place. there should really be more food tours here. the cuisine here is completely different. Filipinos already patronize indian and middle eastern food. this place deserves more attention. Palapa on adobo, ginataan, and curry is a revelation.

Yes! I hope Mayor Lacuna beautifies the area also so that this place becomes an added stop in Manila for tourists. A little sprucing up by making the mosque clean and establishments regulated, we wil see more tourists coming in. Please feature more Muslim establishments especially Muslim dine in restaurants with aircon so that I can share with others so that more Pinoys will have a better impression of our southern brothers and hopefully this will pave the way for all Pinoys will have a unified country despite different beliefs. Mostly those of Muslim ethnics are derived from a malay race with variety of sub ethnics including suluk, tausug, marano, Moro etc... Definitely the foods are kindly similar with a unique local touch & ingredients. Mostly SEA Muslims want to visit the Philippines but our concern is a halal food availability, especially in famous touristy area. I think the government of the Philippines should implement a halal tourism in order to grab more attention from Muslim countries to visit the lovely Philippines.

@@US_AND_IL_ARE_WAR_CRIMINALS yeah those foods are halal but the cooking ingredients is uncertainty... Any halal food served with booze side by side, cooking ingredients such as mirin, rice cooking wine, no pork / lard status etc can be considered as non halal. The strict halal certification is required for the peace of mind. Just my 2 cents ...

There's malay ethnicity & there's malay race. They not same thing. Malay race concept developed by westerner like dutch and british because they see similar thing in this region like speak similar language (malay language was lingua franca) or looks. Malay ethnicity is ethnoreligious group(muslim. Meaning no christian malay). Who used this definition is Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei. Meaning you can be problem when you Christian but claim to be malay in this countries. Malay race concept now have replace with Austronesian word instead but is also technical wrong since these word is family language group.

they speak modern Filipino language thou, Manila is actually the Main City of Muslims in the old days before Spanish genocide/colonization so the only region left is the southern Island Mindanao. They speak tagalog, but they have their own language. I came from Iranon tribe and we have similarity with Maranaws, you can call us Ilanun (Pirates) on bahasa Indonesia, our tribe migrate also in Indonesia so you can search us and we exist today in Indonesia and we also have in Sabah Malaysia. Maranaw and Maguindanao tribe came from Ilanun tho but we're not on the mainstream and not really recognized here in Philippines. All they know is Maranao, Tausog, and Maguindanao. Basically, we Iranons/Pirates are more spread than the rest of Muslim tribes since we exist in Indonesia and Malaysia at the same time

The phrase "اللهم اجعلني في عيني صغيرا وفي أعين الناس كبيرا" is a supplication in Arabic that translates to: "O Allah, make me small in my own eyes and great in the eyes of people." This prayer reflects a desire for humility and self-awareness while seeking to be respected and esteemed by others. It emphasizes the importance of maintaining a humble view of oneself despite being recognized or honored by others.

Absolutely, the supplication "اللهم اجعلني في عيني صغيرا وفي أعين الناس كبيرا" encapsulates a profound spiritual sentiment in Arabic. Here's a breakdown of its meaning and significance: - **اللهم (Allahumma)**: O Allah, addressing Allah (God) in supplication. - **اجعلني (ij'alni)**: Make me, grant me. - **في عيني (fi 'ayni)**: In my own eyes, in my perspective. - **صغيرا (sagheeran)**: Small, insignificant. - **وفي أعين الناس (wa fi a'yun al-nas)**: And in the eyes of people. - **كبيرا (kabeeran)**: Great, significant. ### Translation and Interpretation: "O Allah, make me small in my own eyes and great in the eyes of people." ### Explanation: 1. **Humility Before Self**: The prayer begins with a plea to Allah to grant the supplicant humility and a modest self-perception. It acknowledges the importance of seeing oneself with humility, recognizing one's own limitations and insignificance in the grand scheme of things. 2. **Esteemed by Others**: Simultaneously, the supplication asks for Allah's grace to be perceived as great or significant by others. This doesn't imply seeking fame or attention for personal gain, but rather seeking respect and honor in the eyes of others through righteous actions and conduct. 3. **Balance of Humility and Esteem**: It highlights the balance between self-awareness and external perception. While humility before Allah is paramount, being respected or esteemed by others can reflect the positive impact of one's character and deeds. 4. **Spiritual Growth**: By praying in this manner, individuals aspire to cultivate inner humility and avoid arrogance, while also striving to positively influence and inspire others around them. Overall, this supplication underscores the importance of inner reflection, humility, and seeking righteousness, while recognizing the natural desire to be valued and respected by others in a constructive and honorable manner.

DODOL exactly the same as what we have in Java islands or lemang & Rendang in Sumatra, Nasi kuning or yellow rice all over island in Indonesia, opor ayam / yellow chicken curry.. its originated from old times generations.. and become festive food on HARI RAYA / IEDUL FITRI CELEBRATIONS I think most of Moslems ethnic in Filipina descendant from Bugis Sulawesi.. the kind of food & the way of cooking exactly the same..

Not all of them are Bugis, many of the ethnic group in the south are Suluk, Bajao, Maranao dan Maguindanao ethnic group. Many of the Suluk have relation with Sabah in Malaysia so their culture is very similar to the Muslim in Borneo Malaysia and also Sulawesi because the island are all interconnected because all these people are seafarers and they move around all the times.
