Frankie, I want you to know how awesome your gig vlogs are to me, as a younger musician who is soon getting to the age where I'm old enough to start consistently getting gigs. Your vlogs show me the process of rehearsals, setup, proper gig etiquette, and just how to be a better musician in general. Its honesty inspired me to maybe start a gig vlog channel of my own, if not to show other people, to just look back on fond memories. Keep it up!

Hey Frankie, just discovered your channel this year. I'm a 50-year old (very) amateur musician that wonders what an alternative life would have been as a professional musician. Thanks for sharing all the good and bad of it, it's fascinating to see. And thanks for inspiring me to do some ear training… finally after all these years.

First off: outstanding! I’ve always been in awe of people who can do what you do here. Identifying chords and knowing what works with what shows that you’ve really taken your heart your music. I’ve got to get back into music, and I’m working on figuring out if I’ll be able to rent initially or if I’ll just need to bite the bullet and buy, but I hope to someday be able to do similar. 😂 Great work, look forward to more videos!

Thank you!! And it’s usually fairly cheap to rent, so it could be a good idea to start there and then if you quickly decide you want to buy then you can. Some places even do rent to own!

@5:30 bro really thought he was a sound wave Frankie, I just want you to know even tho I’m a bass trombonist, i love your humor and energy you bring to these videos. Even if you play really bad and are not having a good time. You still post it which in modern day nobody shows them failing but you do and that’s very respectable. You have encouraged me to go and push myself past my comfort zone and play in a genre I’m not very comfortable in which is dance/pop music. I feel a lot more confident in classical and swing jazz music. But the challenge is so much fun Love from Sweden

I'm so glad, you collaborated with Frank Tedesco (one of my fav youtubers) cause now I get to enjoy your saxophone playing (even though,jazz it's not necessarily my favorite genre, but talent is talent! - who cares? Just enjoy the music) - & I can see that as a musician you are very critical of yourself,but you shouldn't be - just play with feeling, cause that what ppl are responding too° 🤗🤗🤗 Don't be too hard on yourself & enjoy as much as you can: believe in that fact, that if the feeling is there you are touching someone's soul, it doesn't have to be "musically perfect"! You are amazing!! & I'm soo happy to have found you!!! 🤗🤗

8:20 reminds me of when i played in a musical earlier this year, the drummer (My friend) was staring me down the whole song, he said it was his favourite song to listen to but he was just trying to put me off. The other sax player with me started laughing at how I was staring at him instead of reading my music (I was playing badly) and then both me and the drummer started laughing, everything went downhill but it sounded fine from the audience recording so cant complain

There were some vlogs that made me laugh and smile. And there were others that made me just amazed on how a great player you are. Finally, it so interesting to see how a life of a musician really is. It takes a lot of hard work and tons of talent to make it look so easy. That's from years of practice on doing something you love which is obvious. I so look forward to 2024 and more vids and vlogs, Kool Kat FF.

@FoolishFrankie

I appreciate that so much🙏🏻 and honestly, just learning as many songs by ear as possible. It’s easy in today’s world to immediately google “sheet music” after whatever song you want to learn. @@FoolishFrankie I love that, thank you for sharing! That sounds like a lot of fun. I love watching your videos, I can tell that you really enjoy what you do! I’m recording an original album in a studio and from my perspective, it is a really unique experience that I think any musician should have access to, even if just sitting in on a session, observing the moving parts. I went to a small studio, they’re relocating atm, but the experience has been a lot of fun and the camaraderie is as great as the music, like a close band! Connecting with musicians is so meaningful. DEFINITELY depends on the studio though. I feel like my experience is not the most common way people have it, so I am very lucky. Either way, the setting is enlightening. Happy holidays and stay awesome!

As far as the solo stuff is concerned, in my opinion there's "good" and there's "right", and you only have to get it "right" if you are playing a focus solo from a hit song: the Rafael Ravenscroft break from "Baker Street", for example, or the Clarence Clemons solos from "Jungleland" (or any other Springsteen song, or "You're a Friend Of Mine"), things like that. Even in those, when the solo is long enough, if you start in the right place, end in the right place, and execute competently, audiences will generally let you get away with noodling some in the in middle -- just as the original players often would, in concert -- and at least tolerate it, and sometimes, be pretty damn impressed. Now, that said, the "Time Of My Life" solo is in that category, but the one you did play went over pretty well anyway. :-) (The first one. The second was was right on, except for how you came out) Next: soul. 🙂 (And yup; there some is, in the next damn clip... :-))

It's pretty hard to find opening themes on KZfaq -- I continue to wait for them to release a damn album (titled "Live, from New York!", of course), but the full length Waltz in A is on here, along with a Korean rendering of an opening, and there are some fluffy-fill pieces, at the end of clips from various posting years. I saw it on the setlist but this was one of the first times I played with this band (I was a sub) and their normal horn player doesn’t play it on whistle

Do you play baritone sax. I play alto sax but im still young so i cant get money from it but i want to when i get older. I wanna learn every type of saxaphone but its soooooo expensive. Also what type of neckstrap do you use i need a new one

Why is altissimo so difficult, can anyone explain to non-saxophone player? You sounded fantastic on every short 🙌, those moments were the only questionable ones, it just sounded like reaching too high and falling short.
