Thought the L4 nerve root exits btwn the L4 and L5 disc, not the L5.

Yes, this can be a little misleading. The L5 nerve exits the thecal sac at the L4 level and out of the foramen at L5-S1.

I had a typical l4/l5 herniated bulge where pain goes 4/5 days later but what was different is i tried decompressing lower back with a roller. Stood up wow no l4/l5 pain next minute a huge jolt down that (peroneal) nerve. Numb lower outside leg down to the right (big toe + next 2 toes) foot. 2 years later no pain big toe still slightly numb, but the crazy thing is no more l4/l5 pain. Im not sure if im better or worse off
