They forgot to mention that hundreds of thousands of young American men died in the 1800’s while the game was evolving, and that Walter camp had to keep adding and amending rules to make the game safer so that less players would die after or during games. By 1905, they had done a lot of work to lower the amount of deaths in games, as there were only 19 deaths across the country. However most of the country was upset that a simple game had killed so many young men. Theodore Roosevelt had to personally ask Walter camp implement new rules that would promote a safer style of play just to keep the game from being outlawed across the country. Walter Camp would go on to implement the forward pass, and become the father of modern football
