I heard some headline about him being removed or stepping down as some sort of Southampton ambassador because he apparently said something along the lines of "we only have the media's word of what's going on regarding the war in Ukraine". I didn't look beyond that and maybe he said something else but as a general statement I don't think there's much wrong with that. It's pretty much true of any story that the media frame the narrative. Sometimes they're closer to objective truth and sometimes they're not. I'm not claiming the western media are necessarily incorrect on this occasion with how they are portraying the war in Ukraine as any county who invades another seemingly unprovoked should be portrayed as aggressive and one would hope public opinion would be against any nation who wants to start a war, however, if all he said was broadly "unless you're there all you have is the media's framing of what's happening" then I don't think that's especially idiotic. As I say though, all I heard was headline that I didn't look into any deeper so happy to be corrected if that's not the case
