Rooi was a marvel to watch. I played against him in our junior days while he was a Chiefs and I was at Pirates. He was the type opponent who did something special every time he received the ball.You press him, he played one touch or two touch, you give him space he absolutely destroyed. This guy is by far the best talent ive seen in youth football. SA never saw his full potential and its a real shame, this guy was just incredible. skapse dans. uyinja boy.

The football environment still needs to grow... That's my take home. From what Michael is saying, the game has become a solid industry in Europe where the whole value chain is sorted. Here teams still exploit and abuse. Let's hope it gets better. But Michael, thank you for your wonderful contribution to the game....

I like it when ex footballers come clean, but one thing they need to remember is that they are employees just like any other person. It is normal that the organisations we work for do not care or ask much about our background or our situations at home. We can therefore not blame them for that. Having taken you as a child, developed you, gave you a contract, that should be enough. The responsibility lies with the players not the teams. South African players lack discipline and thats why most of them die in accidents and some of them do not retire, they just disappear. You can easily see, most of them are above 30 but do not have wives because they want freedom, and lastly they have no financial advisors.
